Companies, day cares, schools, etc should not rely on Facebook for communication. Have an email list and/or your own blog or website too. Fb is blocked at school(work) so it's a pain in the ass when that is the only way to see a restaurant's menu or find out something about dd's daycare. Plus FB is too much of a time sink - not an efficient way to get info.
Coming from a country known for the shittest weather possible, this is an UO that doesn't even sit well with me and in fact I can't believe I'm away to say it but...
I've had enough of the heat!
How do you guys cope with this nonsense!!??
It's been 30c today (I think 86f) and it's midnight now and 26c.
Because this isn't normal, no one has air con here...I'm melting like the wicked witch of the west.
My hair is soaking and frizzy. I'm uncomfortable in my clothes. My kids stink and have all sorts of things stuck or smeared on their skin. I'm in a grumpy mood and I can't sleep.
And my poor wee ginger ninja baby (County Donegal genes) can't cope with any of this either and has been so sad and sorrowful all day bless her.
My other two (have the Italian genes) are a lovely brown.

I don't quit know how to phrase this right though have been thinking about it for 3 days. But basically, I think the (university of Maryland earlier this week) fatal stabbing of a young black man who was due to graduate college the next day by a white college student who was part of a group called "alt-reich" is nearly as horrifying as the Manchester bombing. Though the bombing had many more deaths and injuries and caused immediate trauma to so I many more people, still, the stabbing is just one of many incidents like that which happen every month and often don't even make national news so it is easy to lose sight of violence by white supremacists and other extremists in that direction, and just focus on the things that get labeled as terrorism. Violence and terrorism are perpetrated by all sorts of people and that needs to be more widely recognized.

DH and I went on a tour of London, Scotland and Ireland pre kids and there was similar weather going on. Basically none of the hotels and businesses had AC. I could not deal.

86*F doesn't seem that high to me in terms of high temps (I'm from Florida originally), but that is hot. However, I'm accustomed to air conditioning. I cannot deal without a functioning AC. So I feel for you. What's the typical temp there?
ETA to add I have wondered if DH can handle heat better due to his genetic background and my Irish/Scottish roots shine through with my hatred of heat 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe. But while my husband and I both hate the heat, he hates it more and wilts in it much worse than I do though he is from India and I grew up in coastal MA and have all English and other northern European ancestry.

Oh hi. This is the Pacific Northwest as well. No one has AC and each summer is getting hotter and hotter, I swear. A few years ago I bought a clearance window AC unit in October. Lifesaver. I bought another cheap window unit for the kids room last year.

They deal because they all have AC.they set it to 20C and it's so dry/cold everywhere i need a sweater at all times and constantly have a sore throat. It seems the hottest it gets outside the coldest they make it inside. Florida is an absolute nightmare. I'm never colder than indoors in Florida! And then they don't ever go outside.

I have lots of feelz about AC
No, it's not too cold in FLA indoors 😠. I kid, it probably does feel that way to people not accustomed to it. I feel like anything above 75* outdoors at the most, the AC needs to be on. I keep my AC between 70* & 72* all day long until temps outdoors are below 70*, then I turn the AC off. I don't turn on the heat until it's below 60* usually.
@anth64, is your DH friends with his mom on Facebook? I got stuck with being MILs friend but her kids won't do it. DH will get mad if I get upset about a comment she makes or weird stuff she does like tagging herself in my pictures of DD but I tell him to buzz off since he can't manage to be her friend. So dumb

-1 in summer....not really ha ha!
Probably in summer between 55-60f. But it can be glorious one day, horrific the next.
We don't really have defined seasons here - as a rule, it's generally coat weather, with grey skies.
Our hot summers last a week if we are lucky and we can go whole winters without snow or be completely snowed in for weeks. For some reason (climate change?) we have a flooding problem occasionally - a few years back my old village was basically destroyed. DD1's house with her dad was wrecked.
So there no point in anyone getting ac for the few hot days we do have. Even a fan would seem like an extravagance ha ha.
Didn't think I'd be longing for the grey days though!

Yes!!! You are so right.
I had friends in Alabama I used to stay with.
I dreaded going to the shops because it was freezing. They were walking about all comfortable and I was clenching my jaw and wanting to cry - it felt like my bones had seized up!
UO: I don't like that M14 is taking over parenting (or whatever it's called now). I like it here and don't want to go parenting.
Hopefully others might join in that board and bring people out and we can post here in our group and also there in a larger group. Right now I'm having to post there to try to get it going. Once it has momentum, I'll be back here more.

I sorta get this. I started posting overt there because there was action there and I was in the mood to chat. But in general I don't like to go to more than one board on a regular basis, too time consuming and I can't keep up.

I get it, that 's great! I still think you should sticky a sitewide thread to get people there.
