Ok so the consensus is I'm crazy and to throw money at the airlines lol. I know the trip would suck, I just keep thinking it won't be that bad since N is getting older. The thought of carrying all the stuff through the airport etc really stresses me out. Buuuutt, I'm lucky that my parents will probably get the rental car for us so we won't have to worry about that once we get there.

My friends had the H drive to Florida alone with all the stuff and the car seats and the mom flew a direct flight with the kids alone. I feel like i could do this.
We just found out we have to drive to disney, so I'm pretty bummed. I'd much rather fly, but it's not in the budget ($400 a person). So I'm glad to hear it wasn't terrible for ladytiffany24. We will be leaving Fri evening, stopping for dinner, then I'm going to hope she will fall asleep once it gets dark and we will drive as far as we can. Then finish the rest in the morning.

What airline was $400 per person?
All of them. Lol we are going over thanksgiving, so that's probably why. Even allegiant was upper 300s.

Yeah...fly. If really wasn't that bad with all the stuff in the airport when we just went to Florida. We had the two large suitcases, two full sized strollers, two car seats, two carryons (diaper bag and a misc), and the two kids and truly, it was way better than expected. Sure getting on and off the shuttles sucked, but other than that it was kind of a piece of cake. Sounds way worse than it was!

OMG 3rd trimester and now A#2 decides to be not so nice to me -- I hope its just the damn glucose crap
JoBub, how about some of the rubbermaid shelving units from Lowes. We did that in our 1st home and it was easy H did a few of them on his own which tells you its simple lol
So, we've finally got a vacation to plan. My brother is having a wedding reception in July (they just got married in vegas!). Am I crazy to want to try and drive there? It's a 14 hr drive. I haven't discussed with H yet, I don't think he'll be on aboard but just weighing our options so I can make my case. For us to fly, including our bags and seats is $571 RT. I got a little bit of sticker shock bc we will also have to rent a vehicle when we get there too. I'm not sure I can see doing the trip in one day, so we'd need to factor a hotel into it but I've got Hilton points so we won't have to pay oop. Tell me I'm crazy.
I'm late but I'm shocked you're even considering driving -- what happened to my friend lol. HELL NO to 14 hr drive with kids I'd only maybe to 6 hours with kids and 8 hours with H but I feel like I'm lying to you about that as well. Get a cheap priceline car and rent the car seats from the car seat place if you don't need anything special...

JoBub - That closet looks in rough shape. Maybe hiring it out is worth it at this point?
When we hired someone to do our master closet, both companies we got quotes from had at least a 6-8 week wait. So yeah, I should have done that months ago. But I thought I'd have plenty of time to get it done thus month. And I do, just not plenty of energy.
If you're open to another quote try Joe -- http://www.topshelf-closets.com
He did our master and guest room. I plan to use him when the girls get older to do their custom closets.

Ok you are right! I think we will take our double stroller so just the one and then check 2 suitcases and just carry on the diaper bag and maybe another backpack. But will take the bucket seat probably. becole did you check your bucket seat then? Do I do that at the counter or the gate?

No advice but all the hair pats for BH never experienced them or noticed them
This is what I was planning on. I used this in our other house. But now I'm thinking if I get the kind with the solid particle-board or whatever, it might cover some of the wall damage.

This gives me hope for our annual TX trip. I'll be paging you next year this time for tips.

It will get less banged up if you check it at the gate. You can even put it in a bag to keep it clean but it will be hand placed in the storage and gotten back out by hand as well. They know those are baby items and I've never even had a scratch.
I don't know what's worse about the screaming kid portion of a car trip- A) the actual screaming children B) H telling me to "do something" or screaming from the front seat after very minor amounts of crying. He can't take it. At all.
I think flying with kids is one of the most over-exaggerated inconveniences of parenting. I mean, obviously, it's more stressful than traveling kid-free, but it's really not that big of a deal.

Yeah. And my H keeps turning around in his seat to look while he's driving, like he's going to help and I'm like "you're going to kill us all!!" And that just makes it worse

I think it could be because everyone is there to witness your kids tantrum in this enclosed space. At least a flight to Orlando it is usually expected that there are going to be kids and they are going to be screaming at some point.

This. I've never had anyone give me dirty looks when traveling with babe (even when he's being a typical toddler). People generally offer to help or tell me he did great and he's so cute, etc.

H does this all.the.time. Just MF drive. You're not going to get the child to stop asking for whatever it is we don't understand him asking for and instead, will get us killed.

So much this. It's stressful to me only because of the stress I put on myself. I worry more about what others will think or say. I can't run away from the situation.

Last flight both kids were angels except the last 10 minute descent when his ears were popping and everyone was very friendly in trying to offer gum or candy and my kid was all IDGAF and someone complimented me for how well I kept my cool. I wouldn't have been keeping my cool in the car with no witnesses. Lol.
We're flying at the end of this month and thanks to you all, feeling pretty confident about the whole thing. First flight I'll have all the help from mom, grandma, sister to go to my cousin's wedding. Then I leave from there the day after to fly alone with Z and meet H at the beach with his family for the week. Gate checking the stroller and putting him in a car seat on the plane to keep him contained.
