My H went back to work today and my mom left Saturday so today is my first full day on my own ahhh! My biggest concern is having no one to talk to all day. In my job I am client facing so I'm used to talking to people ALL day long.

My Dd goes to daycare twice a week and the house is oddly calm with just me and baby. But then when she's home it feels so crazy trying to balance her needs and baby's. No happy balance haha
So far so good, he took a long nap this morning so I was able to get a shower. We are getting ready to go to the doctor for a weight check so it will be nice to get out of the house for a bit.
It is much calmer without my older son here too. Next week he will go down to only 3 days a week at daycare so that be a new challenge to adjust to. I feel the same about balancing both of their needs, especially when DS2 starts cluster feeding and he's attached to the boob for what feels like hours.
It's been a rough week. S2 has gotten fussier everyday. It starts at 2pm and lasts until 10 or 11pm everyday. He just can't seem to get comfortable during that time and doesn't nap for more than 20/30 minutes at a time. He's then ok until 1230/1am and the fussiness starts all over until about 5 am.
I'm starting to get worn down because besides about an hour in the evenings after H gets home its all on me. I do the whole night by myself because my H has been sleeping in S1s room at night.
Just needed to vent and get that out! Hoping today will be better.
applemuffins I have a k'tan that I've tried using several times, but I as soon as I put him in it he wants to nurse and I haven't been able to figure out how to position him for nursing in it. I have a ring sling that I haven't tried yet and a bjorn but he isn't long enough for it yet.
Have you tried baby wearing? Using a carrier saved me during the fussy periods with both kids.
What do you recommend when they are newborns? I have a Moby and a ring sling. I didn't babywear with Dd1 until she was about 3 months and had great head control.
@lilybilly, hoping today is a better day!! Like you my DH is really only available to help for about an hour hour and a half in the evening. I do middle of the nights alone since he works crazy hours and needs his sleep. Today is the last day my mom is here to help. Poor C is going to have a rough time when he doesn't have 100% of my attention. However, I am looking forward to having a normal day/routine back in place.

honda13 I'm not one of the baby wearing experts by any means, but I have been using a k'tan. It's pretty easy. Wraps are good too, but I can't figure them out, and especially not fast enough when I have a crying newborn haha. Ergos can eork, but they need an insert. If you don't want to buy the insert, a rolled up blanket inside can work. The googles has info on how to do it.

I'm hearing great things about the Tula Free-to-Grow. You can use it without an additional insert starting at 7lbs. Lillebaby can be worn starting at 7lbs as well.
I have a ring sling and wrap I'm hoping will work well for the newborn stage. Let us know what works for you!

I have a regular Tula that I love, but no insert. I haven't tried the ring sling yet, but I'll let you know!
@lilybilly - Hope you're doing okay without your H! The plan for me is to have someone here for the first four weeks (my H, then my mom, then sister #1, then sister #2, each for a week), so it will be extra strange when they're all back at work.
marshian that's awesome that you'll have different people staying with you, but you're right when everyone leaves it's another adjustment.
Not sure if this is your first, but I feel like for the 2nd baby and on people don't offer to help as much because they are like hey you've got this you've already done it before.

With DS (7 lbs at birth), I loved my Moby right off the bat. DH wore him in the Ergo 360 with the infant insert when he was a few weeks old and it worked just fine. I never tried the k'tan, but heard nice things about it. Wrap style without all the wrap work.
I just have to say I'm super impressed by anyone who is alone with a toddler/multiple toddlers and newborn on a frequent basis. My big kids are staying in full time preschool and camps this summer!
Re babywearing - try the ring sling!!! It took me a few attempts and some help (went to a BWing class) but now it's so easy and fast to use. I prefer it over the moby- moby is just so much freaking fabric to get on.
I don't have a lot to compare it to. But I do really like the ktan for wearing baby during the new born phase. The kangaroo position works great and will provide good support for baby's head. Supposedly it's easy to nurse in too, but I haven't figured that part out yet. I really need to find a baby wearing club to show me how to do that.
@lilybilly, have you tried looking up YouTube videos for nursing in the ktan? I never tried to nurse with DD1 in it, but YouTube videos are what helped me figure out all the different positions to put her in when she got bigger!

I did, but is was during one of the MOTN feedings, but that probably wasn't a good idea.

Try again sometime. I always watched them as I actually did it and paused them step by step if needed! Ha. I'm uncoordinated, so it was a lot of work to figure out at first.
Is there a trick to the Moby wrap, it looks so easy on YouTube videos but when I try in real life it's so awkward. Perhaps she is still too small for it
Me: 29 DH: 35 NTNP since May 2013 charting since June 2014 dx: Graves disease (radioactive iodine), Crohns disease (abdominal surgeries) MMC October 2015 (9 weeks) Severe MFI diagnosis July 2015
Day 2 of me, C and P. Yesterday went fairly well. I'm trying to make sure c gets lots of 1-on-1 time, but of course he really only wants that when I'm feeding P. He's been having issues at bedtime and we are hoping the fits are because he needs more mommy time, but so far I don't think that's the problem. Hoping C naps today and I can get a shower in and maybe make some lactation cookies. Yesterday I went back into work for a couple of hours to try and get caught up on invoicing. C stayed at grandmas and P came with me. It was nice to get back to a semi normal day.
sabrinaml I can't remember, what kind of work do you do? Family business?
I still have help for a couple more weeks. This week it's my sister, and next week it's my mom. Then on my own. Sometimes we're busy all day between the two babies, so still nervous about being on my own. Ah!

DH and I own a welding/fabrication shop. He does the shop work, I do all the bookwork. Our business is located in his parents auto parts store so very much a family location.
Ps umbilical cord stump finally fell off last night (it was hanging on by a thread for almost 2 days). That means bath today! Which is perfect timing since she had a poop explosion last night. I just baby wiped her down really good because I wasn't up for making her even more upset with a bath.
Just popping in to say I LOVE THE MOBY WRAP lol It takes a few times to get used to wrapping it but it has been my go to since kid 2. They sleep so peacefully while pressed tightly against the momma. It's my fave.
