Wtf to the storm last night. It woke me and Kyle up and since our area was in the severe zone for almost an hour and a half straight I was really debating getting everyone else up to head downstairs. The lightning was intense and close. I haven't looked outside yet but it was nuts.

So, someone tell me to CTFD. We're going to the beach later this month and the ILs rented a house right on the water. I'm freaking out thinking that my kid could get out of the house somehow and into the water. He can't open regular door handles and he usually cries as soon as he wakes up. Do I put him in our room/ bed? Bring a baby gate? WWYD?

Honestly, I don't think you're being completely irrational. I'd get some door latches/knob covers to make sure he can't get out of his room at night. And bringing a gate could be helpful as well, if there's a porch in the back that you might want to contain him to.
dogmama22 we use this to keep him in his room at night. It does hold open a little gap in the door, so not the best if you need to close it to keep noise out, but I'm pretty sure it would work just about anywhere and you don't need to know what type of handles are on the doors.
We have traveled to houses with pools, and that made me nervous too. But the thing I always worried about the most was just a situation where everyone thought someone else was watching him and he snuck off. So it helped just to make sure all the adults knew to always close/lock the back door, and ask people to help me always know where he is.
MIL and SIL just left. I'm still having weird contractions (again? still? not sure) but I really want to get the nursery painted so I'm just going to work on that really slowly. Also we found out Monday that the new windows are being installed tomorrow so we have to take down all the blinds and curtains and move all furniture away from the windows. That's DH's job. My days on ladders are done.

I was awake with baby when the storm rolled through around 6 a.m. Was there another storm in the MOTN, bc I must have slept through that. Poor N was so scared when she heard the thunder this morning.
To anyone interested in spectra parts, and/or medela parts...I will be done pumping at the end of this month. I have loads of stuff. I'd be happy to give to anyone here interested. I also have small bottles, 4 oz and 5 oz avent and medela that I really don't have any use for either. I also have two PISA and the Spectra pump too. LMK and I can set aside stuff I'm not using, like the bottles and other parts for Saturday.

I don't know if I'll need anything, but I have a Spectra. If any of the working moms want it, they can have it, otherwise I'll take parts and hold on to them, and if I don't need them give them back or offer to the next pregnants. I'm hoping to go back to work and have use for the pump.

Ok, I'll just have out whatever I'm not currently using, you or whoever can take it and like you said pass it along. I may try to sell whatever I have left over, but that's probably more trouble than it's worth. I'm really just happy to purge stuff at this point. Oh I also have 2 Brest friend pillows. Do you want one sstwinklinglites?

dogmama22, I would just make sure that any exterior doors have a lock that he can't reach. If he can reach them, I would just bring some door knob things.

I have a Boppy. Is the consensus that the Breast Friend is better?

I couldn't get the boppy to work as good for me. I loved the Brest friend in the beginning. I may try to sell one I have, but it you want to borrow the other, please do!

Yes. Lol I hated the boppy... It never stayed in place and wasn't as supportive. BFing was so much easier once I ditched the boppy for the brest friend.

I'll be the voice of dissent for the Boppy. I liked the one I used for BF'ing, it was different than the traditional Boppy though. There was a firmer side and a softer side like the reg. boppy, it also had a buckle strap to help keep it in place. I think the softer side is better when LO is a little bigger with better head control.
