Feed number 2, but third time up. I could hardly keep my eyes open for the first feeding. I'll have to go downstairs to pump after this feeding. Little lady is lazy when it comes to nursing (thanks NICU)

E finally fell asleep after using me as a human pacifier, more than actually nursing, and she has pooped. Again. She has a very effective digestive system, this is her sixth poopy diaper since she was born this morning!

P is a crazy pooper too!! It's finally started to slow down, but for the first week almost every diaper was poopy.

sabrinaml - I don't remember DS pooping so often so early, but it is a completely different experience anyway with a girl! Much more work and much more careful wiping.

+3 to the effective pooper club lol! I swear he has some poo in there every diaper change. And pretty much everyone that has heard his farts are impressed.
@lilybilly are you pumping too? I'm in the process of switching over to exclusive pumping 😬
Right now I'm only pumping 1 to 2 times a day with the hopes of having my H do one feeding per night so I can get a break and for him to get more time with him. So far though he's having nothing to do with a bottle.
With my other son though, I had to pump after every feeding from the very beginning. He was in the NICU for 2 days and was a very sleepy baby so he wasn't stimulating milk production enough on his own. He also had a terrible latch. I called him the chomper. We also had to supplement with formula in the beginning until my milk came in, which took 5 days. I continued pumping after every feeding until about 6 weeks and then went back to work at 7 weeks and pumped 3 times a day at work plus 1 night time pump. I also had to do a power pumping session 1 to 2 times per week until about 9 months. I still nursed whenever we were together. Even though I wasn't exclusively pumping, I still got to know my pump very well and was glad to be rid of it at 11 months when he switched to almond milk/rice milk during the day and nursed at night until 18 months. Sorry that was so long, but I would be glad to share any pumping tips I picked up from last time.
I cannot get this kid to sleep anywhere other than on the boob or on my chest at night. I try to put him down in the bassinet and it's a fail each time.

cheezee you could try stuffing the bassinet sheet in your bra for a bit before putting him in there, so it smells like you. You could also try putting a heating pad on there for a few mins to make it warm before putting him in (obviously don't put him to sleep on top of the heating pad).
That being said, DS1 would only sleep on my chest at night for the first several weeks, so I know what you're going through.

Good lord. Homeboy just had his first total shit fit. I mean, I can't complain too much since he will be a month old next week, so he has held it together pretty good overall. But geez. I've been pumping on one side all day since he injured one nipple and it has been too painful to nurse off it. He was pretty fussy for my MIL which is unusual, so I figured maybe he didn't get enough milk from the side that's still open for business. I went to give him the bottle of milk I pumped and he happily took 2oz of it, but then he just totally lost his shit and refused to take anymore. I burped him, changed him, wiped him down (it's pretty muggy today and he looked sweaty) all to no avail. Finally just had to lay down and nurse him more and that has calmed him. Just hoping I can detach him so I can get a shower myself.
+1 to the effective pooping going on. So.much.poop. It's a guarantee they'll poop right after they get changed too. And when they just got fed and were putting them down to sleep, and they decide to go.
Lately I've been dozing or falling asleep during the MOTN feedings. It's great bc I actually get some sleep! But then I wake up so confused wondering if they actually latched or ate.
cheezee +1 to a baby that will be in a deep sleep but the moment you set him down his eyes pop right open. We are trying the happiest baby on the block suggestions to see if any of that will help.
applemuffins first off I hope your damaged side starts to heal quickly for you. The medela hydrogel pads helped me a lot. Second I hope your LO gives you a break for yourself soon. The boobs are a blessing and a curse they will solve almost anything that is upsetting baby and sometimes they are the ONLY thing that will make them happy.

I'm up, I just got my MOTN dose to ibuprofen. I am plenty awake because E decided to have a nice big spitup while she was sleeping and I was a little freaked out that she was going to choke and turn blue (neither of which happened). She is absolutely fine (and still asleep) after scaring the crap out of mommy and being re-swaddled. I'm worried that I won't wake up if she does it again, but I'm going to trust my mommy ears & instincts and try to doze off. She is in the bassinet, which is right beside me, and we're still at the hospital, so I'm pretty darn sure we'll be fine. Just paranoia.

Dealing with this now too, she epically spit up on herself so I'm going to hold her upright for 20-30 minutes. Everytime E has spit up while sleeping I've heard her. I'm pretty sure that newborns can spit up on their backs and won't choke on their spit up

We are dealing with this too and it's so scary. Friday night DD was almost choking on her own mucus and then spit up everywhere. I was sleeping but DH heard her. She did it again yesterday and I saw/heard it. It wasn't as bad as Friday but still scary. Babies are so scary!

Same. This makes me feel a little better. We've had a few projectile spit ups or choking situations. I thought maybe I'm overfeeding her so I've tried to take a bunch of breaks when feeding. Gross but I think she spits up and reswallows so I try to catch it quickly. Hoping it's not a reflux thing

Same with thinking we are overfeeding. Also, she chugs a bottle so we are working on making her eat slower including taking breaks to burp and it seems to be helping. We have a dr's appt Wednesday so I also plan to ask about the possibility of reflux then.

Sometimes when I'm too full, my milk let's down too fast and DS starts choking on it. His coughs sound so scary. I try to keep him more upright, or sideways so the milk can trickle out of the side of his mouth if he needs to. He also spit up on the first night home from the hospital and I had no idea except for the stain on the mattress. I felt horrified and horrible. He was in a bassinet arms length away from me!! I refuse to sleep without a lamp on now.
We've had a rough couple of days with S2 being super fussy and high maintenance but I think we may have figured out that he's getting overtired. He's stopped falling asleep while nursing so I just figured he'd fall asleep when he was ready, but I think he's starting to need help falling asleep now. I'm going to have to start paying more attention to how long he's awake and make sure it's not over an hour. I really hope that's what's been making him so disagreeable lately and that this will help him be more content while he is awake because he's wearing me down lately.
