I'll be here soon. Clara didn't nap and we are working on bedtime now. She had an accident and ran around apparently and got pee everywhere. So that's fun
christian funeral (or is it American funerals) are weird. They didn't put the coffin in the ground. They set it on top of the grave, said a prayer and that's it, everyone leaves. What happened to lowering the coffin in the grave and throwing dirt on it?!! That part gets me every time. You don't do that here?
I think it all depends on the community and the cemetery. I've seen both here in North America.
Good to know, I was wondering if that's how it's always done , or if that's how they do it at Presbyterian funerals, or if it's just how they do it at the specific cemetery. I've never been to a funeral where they don't burry the coffin

Kids are starting to lose it. They're way over tired but "mommy I don't want to sleep!" And running around in circles. Am I allowed to ignore them, got to sleep and let DH deal when he gets back in the house?? I feel like I should be a good wife and take care of it so DH doesn't have to, today out of all days. But I'm in bed and just want to sleep!
He is sitting outside all alone drinking. Maybe I should go be with him. I don't really know what to do.
If you're not crazy tired, take him a freshened up drink and one for you (if you can handler another) and just sit with him.
And both of you ignore the girls.
That would be the right thing... but then I have to drench myself in bug spray , which will require a shower later, and I just want to go to sleep now! Okay, I'm bringing him a fresh beer to tell him I'm going to bed . Good compromise.
I started Riverdale last night. Continuing it now. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but I need to find out what happened, so they have me hooked regardless.

I went to see DH. He's actually been on the phone with his aunt (FIL's sister) the entire time. I feel a little better knowing he wasn't just sitting out there alone for an hour. I don't hear the kids running around anymore and they turned the lights back off in their room. I should ignore them more often. Goodnight
We got noodles and dim sum. It doesn't look like much but it's seriously the best Chinese ever. Everything is handmade on site including all the noodles

Definitely did that part at my grandmother's funeral last year. I'm sure it varies by cemetery or something. When my other grandmother died, it had rained so much that the ground around her plot was too soft and we had to do the whole cemetery part across the road from it. I don't have a clear memory of it, but I'm sure her coffin was not lowered in our presence since we weren't even in the right spot.
That is a heartbreaking and sweet note from your DD. I hope you're all processing and healing together in the days ahead.
Just cracking open a Summer Shandy. It was a crappy day at school (principal forgot to show up for my observation and now will probably come on Monday which is the last full day of school with the kids and I planned on doing nothing academic and then the whole afternoon was a shit show of an activity that basically gave the kids free reign to use random crap like cardboard, yarn, marbles, etc to create things and resulted in a headache and glue all over the floor). Luckily tonight was nice at home...Chinese takeout and a new game for Friday game night with DD1. DH went to the gym so it's time for TV, beer, and catching up with you ladies!

Why is last day of school on Monday? its seems like Friday would have made most sense.
Sorry your plans got ruined. I hate when you plan something and it gets all messed up from someone's unorganized agenda.
It's kind of noir-ish? It's based in the town from the Archie comics. There was a murder over the summer and it's about solving the mystery. But there's also the teen drama mixed in. Ever watch Veronica Mars? It has a similar feel. The first few episodes are a little awkward, where they try to make it 1950s feeling.
