Nairobi and Kenya for toddlers

I got roped into a holiday with the family to Kenya and am a bit nervous as my 2.5 year old toddler with be accompanying us too! Any comments on how child-friendly a place Nairobi is? My main queries surround entertainment (parks/playgrounds), health and safety (food/water) and infrastructure (cleanliness, public toilets, change-facilities, etc). Its too late to change plans now, so the best I can do is make sure that my kid is healthy, relatively well entertained and happy! We're going on a couple of private safaris where kids are allowed, though I wonder if he'll really enjoy them. Any warnings, pointers, hints, suggestions, advice
