N's eye is getting better I think. I was going to call pedi today but if it is improving, I'll see if it goes away on it's own. Now that the swelling is gone it is definitely a bump on the inside of the upper lid (not along the lash line). So maybe a chalazion or cyst. But since I can only feel a little bump, I have no idea. FX it'll be fine without medical intervention.
Today was beautiful but we stayed inside mostly due to me being diligent about warm compresses.
Hey there! I'm ruling this thread lol. Yesterday we had a mall day and today we went to the summer morning movie - hotel Transylvania 3. Those movies crack me up and have good music in them!
Now I'm gonna have to start cleaning as my sis and nephew are coming into town tomorrow. Tonight is a concert in the park at our neighborhood park. So we can walk over there!!

I swear I replied to this thread yesterday 🤔 anyyyyway yesterday’s meeting at school went well.
Today has been low key at home. Laundry & some deep cleaning / organizing. G has had a lot of screen time playing Nintendo, but we take dance party breaks so I’m not fussed about it.
dreemkin glad N’s eye is better! Two weeks of lid scrubs (like I described the other day) is more of a prophylactic to stop recurrences than it is a treatment for an already existing chalazion. If you or she are worried about it happening a third time. I could never be bothered as a kid or teen because they didn’t hurt & I didn’t care about the cosmetic redness. I learned how to put on eyeliner despite the speed bumps 😂

Babysat an 11mo baby who has never been away from her mother, ever, and only nurses to sleep. She missed her morning nap & slept 5 minutes in the car just before they got here.
And I got her to sleep!! Without nursing her! Twice!
It's been a power struggle to get A to eat dinners. She says she doesn't like everything I make each night (the main dish - usually chicken or beef). I make pretty simple things, nothing too exotic. I have had her stay there and eat like one piece of chicken (which took 2 hr) and we've taken away going to the park after dinner. I've also taken away snacks during the day. I don't know what else to do. I am not going to cater and have her live on only pb&js. Do I just let her not eat the meat for dinner (she eats the veggies and salad or whatever else I make to go with the main meat part)? I want to her get the protien part of the meal. Any advice or experience? She used to be a good eater.
As I'm typing this out I'm realizing that maybe I'm being too strict for this one thing. I grew up with a picky eater and it drives me nuts. Also, H's mom is ridiculous when it comes to food pickiness and it seems so silly. I don't want to give in and then A be a non-adventurous eater the rest of her life.
dreemkin we have been going through the same thing with V, he is saying he doesn't like anything. I just read a book about intuitive eating, which basically states that for kids you should prepare the food and then they get to decide what to eat and how much to eat. I've been trying to follow that advice through this picky phase, but its rough. My old habits are well ingrained from my childhood.
My phone has been messing up lately, I'm hoping that it isnt dying.
It's been a busy week, but its my weekend and spending this morning running errands. My brother is coming up to visit me, since he had car trouble on my birthday and couldn't come bowling with us. That should be fun, not sure what we are going to do though.
dreemkin I would just try and let it go a bit. Like kartish mentioned the intuitive eating is an excellent starting point. I haven't read it but a friend has shared a lot of key points from it and I really appreciate the philosophy- for kids and adults.
I have mostly followed the thank you bite philosophy. Take one bite of everything on your plate and then the rest is up to them. I don't fight about it they just have to sit there. I don't take anything away, no consequences other then sitting there longer than they would like and we leave the table which usually is enough to encourage them to take a bite. That being said, I am about to change with C. He is too stubborn and it's causing frustration with him and H. I am about to go more of the intuitive eating route. I made this for dinner it's what you get but you choose what to eat. I am not making anything else, except extenuating circumstances, they can eat breakfast tomorrow. It's the very rare child who will actually starve themselves and I don't think that is N. Keep offering her veggies and healthy proteins and eventually she will try them.

We’re far enough north the storm shouldn’t affect us. None of my family came up to stay so hopefully they ride it out okay.
dreemkin I’m also on team no fighting about food but no catering separate meals. We do talk about different nutrients & what they do (protein builds muscles & skin!) & what nutrients are in different foods. But in practice G gets to choose what he eats out of what is served. I don’t engage in food fights. He is welcome to be hungry if he chooses.
I focus on phrases like “I don’t want that right now” as opposed to “I don’t like that.” We have also had discussions lately that you don’t have to like something to benefit from the nutrients in it.
