Oh you guys, it's been rough here with Gatsby. During drop off/pick ups, I've had to take him in the car or crate him at home to ensure not jumping and leaking on everything. I also broke down and have putting a pull up on him when he's in the kitchen and I'm trying to do chores. It seems to help him from leaking as much as is isn't getting soiled as much as I thought. I'm nervous to keep it on long as the sutures are so close to his "schmeckle". Hopefully he will improve soon. Seems to be a bit better throughout the night. aggiebug I was reading this could be a week or two to heal up? Is that true? I wish they would have prepared me a better for how this could be, post op.
I'm going to go grocery shopping tonight as I don't want to leave Gatsby alone for that long.
Also heard this "song" on the radio today and though a lot of it still holds true. I'm going to leave it here for your reading pleasure. Remember this?
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of '99 Wear Sunscreen If I could offer you only one tip for the future, Sunscreen would be it The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience... I will dispense this advice now...
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked...
You are not as fat as you imagine Don't worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind
the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing Don't be reckless with other people's hearts
don't put up with people who are reckless with yours
Floss Don't waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind...
the race is long, and in the end, it's only with yourself Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements
Stretch Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life... the most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don't
Get plenty of calcium Be kind to your knees, you'll miss them when they're gone Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't maybe you'll have children, maybe you won't maybe you'll divorce at 40, maybe you'll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary... what ever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either your choices are half chance, so are everybody else's
Enjoy your body
use it every way you can...
don't be afraid of it, or what other people think of it
it's the greatest instrument you'll ever own
Dance...even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room Read the directions, even if you don't follow them Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly
Get to know your parents, you never know when they'll be gone for good Be nice to your siblings they are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future
Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle
because the older you get the more you need the people you knew when you were young Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft Travel Accept certain inalienable truths prices will rise politicians will philander you too will get old, and when you do you'll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable politicians were noble and children respected their elders Respect your elders Don't expect anyone else to support you Maybe you have a trust fund maybe you have a wealthy spouse but you never know when either one might run out Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you're 40, it will look 85 Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it Advice is a form of nostalgia dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth But trust me on the sunscreen
Honestly dreemkin that is still rather unusual. Is he on any meds? Pain? Antibiotics? I might call the Dr and see if they can give you see insight or help. Maybe the surgery was more difficult than expected, the bladder was more inflamed than typical. I am sorry it's been a rough recovery, that really stinks.
Hidey ho. Just another manic Monday here. I feel terrible I lost my patience on the kids and yelled. I was mad enough Sarah said she was scared. Of course we both cried and hugged and I apologized. I did ask her why she thought I was so mad and what I could do instead when I am that mad. After that they finally picked up toys and life went on. I watched a friend's 2 kids today so the parents could go to an appointment, one is S's age the other just turned 1 so it was fun. Then I was ready for a nap 😆.
Preschool tomorrow wheeee and swim lessons it will be another long Tuesday.

The Dr did say it was a difficult surgery/case but didn't elaborate on why. He does have pain/anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. He pee is almost blood free today (so far)! I have to call today to make the follow up appointment so maybe I'll ask to talk to the doc about the dribbles.

Blood is super irritating to the bladder so that is probably a big part of it. Hopefully as the blood goes away so will her symptoms
Gatsby saga continues. Due to his current synptoms, Doc wanted me to bring him in to check him with an xray. He is stone free! So he said it is most likely taking longer than usual to heal due to the trauma of his surgery which is what I figured all along. I guess it was very complicated with stones in his urethra even. A lot of manipulation and catheterization etc. And the stones were sharp and pointy like tiny thorns all over them. So $200 for piece of mind and to say wait it out for another week. I know he's just a dog and I shouldn't be as dramatic as I've been but it has caused me a lot of stress as they are part of the family and I'm handling this (plus the everyday household things) all on my own. Especially when our schedules are just starting up again and all that.
Tl;dr Gatsby is just taking longer than normal to heal due to his more complicated than usual surgery. And I'm broke (mentally and pockets).
I'm also pissed and overwhelmed and frustrated and there's all this fooking disruptive construction all over.
On the bright side: tonight is orientation and first day of Religious Education classes for Norah. My big girl! I'm happy she will be starting this spiritual journey and hope she loves it.
aggiebug I'm sorry about your stressful situation. With family, shouting happens. Like that quote Lily posted: if it doesn't happen you aren't spending enough time together haha. It sounds like you had a productive discussion afterward! And thanks again for your insight on this whole Gatsby situation. It helps to hear different opinions and thoughts when I really don't know what to expect.
dreemkin glad you got some peace of mind. It doesn't matter that Gatsby is a dog for one he is a part of your family and two those symptoms are hard to deal with. The urethra stones make sense it was what I was wondering about the surgery actually. Those can be so hard to get out and cause a lot of trauma.
Can't believe it's been 18 years since 9/11. Norah's school was asked to wear red, white, and blue today.
Norah seemed to like RE last night. It was a little over whelming to me (maybe with everything else) because it is a big, long term commitment. But it felt nice to see the amount of like minded families there. I recognized a few faces from activities the girls have been in.
Two school drop offs and pick ups today but thankfully nothing else. Must-gos for dinner tonight.
ETA: Anna ate dinner last night!! I couldn't believe it. Mini meatloaves. We found something she'll eat!

Bible study started today. There’s a lady in my small group who looked familiar but didn’t sound familiar... figured out when we did introductions that she’s my high school sweetheart’s stepmom so I was recognizing her from fbook photos of his kid (we were close throughout college, and his parents didn’t split up until a year after college graduation so I’d never met the stepmom.) Small town life!
PTA meeting went great last night. I’ve been trying to type up a summary email to send out for the parents who didn’t make it, but J has been especially needy today so it hasn’t happened.
Today marks 10 years of marriage, respect, support, laughter, tears, and partnership! So in love with my wonderful groom still 🤵 Can't wait for decades more to come 💐

I went and had car seats checked this afternoon. I was pretty certain C's seat was not in correctly, we just turned it around so this is a recent thing. Anyhoo. An hour and a half later, and in the rain, and we are done. Although she pointed out it looks like A is about to out grow the diono which is incredibly frustrating and doesn't make sense as she is 44" and it says "57 in the manual. I am going to post pictures on CFL site for feedback.
ETA more reading of the manual and S is totally fine for a while. ::Phew::. Turns out diono radian isn't the typical inch from the top but ears below the top of the seat so she has plenty of room. That is an expensive seat to outgrow that fast!

dreemkin how Gatsby today? Also, I’m open for Disney World tips. We’re going with all the in laws for spring break. I’ve got to get our dining choices together because our Disney agent is booking that soon.

Gatsby is improving very slowly. He still doesn't have his normal bladder function back but I think he's still healing! Thanks for asking!
Omg I don't know where to begin. If you are dining with a big group it is especially important to make those advanced dinning resis at the 180 day mark. Character meals are a great way to check off a lot of character meetings in an easy way. Are you on the dinning plan? If so there are a few one credit locations that are really a great value. Another tip I have is to book pre park opening reservations for breakfast. While it is a very early start to the day, it is amazing to get through bag check/security before most. Plus if you finish breakfast around park open time you can get in line for a nearby ride before the rope drop!
lilyelayne another dining tip I have is making a dining package for a show like fantasmic, Rivers of Light, or Fantasy Parade. In the dining plan (and I think out of pocket but not sure) they are no extra charges and after eating you get passes for VIP seating areas for whatever show you chose. This is great because you don't have to go super early just to sit there for a good seat. And they're the best viewing spots. I'm sure your travel agent has many tips but if you want more for any part of your trip I will be happy to help! If so just give me some details like: Are you staying on property? What parks are you going to? Are you getting park hopper tickets? I'm so excited for you and your family! Is this the first family trip? Such wonderful, happy, life long memories will be made °o°
Sorry I'm now blowing up this thread but as silly as it seems for a vacation, planning every single part of your day (like by the hour almost) is what will make things run smoothly and your whole family can enjoy the trip. How I start is picking what day will be what park, researching dining there and making dining reservations, then making fast pass reservations (when you can) for the rides that are must-haves to you as early in the day as you can in order to keep making more selections throughout the day. Keep in mind your dining times and show/parade times as to not overlap. I will direct you to two YouTubers that I watch that have great planning videos: Jen Lefforge and brummymummyof2
Nothing makes me more frustrated and sad as when I hear families bad mouthing disney about how they wasted their time and money waiting in lines the whole time (due to not planning). Having some healthy expectations goes a long way too, especially at high crowd times. If you do it right you will not be waiting in lines and still be enjoying many magical attractions and experiences.

dreemkin yes we’re on a dining plan. Something like a quick and a full service and a snack a day or something? This was all booked entirely without my input & I am still working on my attitude about it. Thankfully my already planned spring break trip could still be cancelled. There are 11 of us total- four kids and seven adults. We are staying at pop century. I think yes on the park hopper thing?
My kids don’t know any Disney characters so as far as I’m concerned our dining choices should be about quality food & maybe good shows like you mentioned?

lilyelayne oh boy! The good thing is disney can still be fun without being that much into the movies or characters but a lot of it might be lost on your family, especially magic kingdom. I will think about it and post some dining suggestions for you based on your info. The disney dining plan you are on is the tier that we choose. I love it! It's so nice to have the table services for a break! Just keep up with snacks or you will end up having like 20 credits left over and using them on stupid stuff like water and goldfish (that can be bought anywhere for way cheaper). There are whole articles about the best snacks and values to use your snack credits on lol
