Been sticking to red wines since LO arrived but ready to get back to beer... What should my first be... I do love a good stout. Also, I'm sure this has been discussed at length already, but how many is too many drinks if you are BF'ing?

morrones8 - it depends on personal preference more than science. A very negligible amount of alcohol makes it into your breast milk (>2%) while drinking, but some mothers are not okay with any amount at all. I found this article to be the most helpful in my decision making process: evolutionaryparenting.com/guest-post-breastfeeding-and-alcohol-consumption/
morrones8, I use the "If you're safe to drive, you're safe to breastfeed" rule. Normally if I want to drink, I'll have one drink either during or immediately after nursing. Last Saturday was my birthday, and I had two drinks after one nursing session. I won't make a habit of it, but I think that's ok every once in a while.
morrones8 Both my LC and her pediatrician said exactly what maebb said. "If you're safe to drive, you're safe to BF". It made me feel better hearing it from them than just whatever info I could find on the Internet.

I've been drinking session lagers and IPAs. They're amazing! They taste like my favorite beers but only have 4.5% alcohol. I can actually drink one and not fall asleep!
