There's a FB group that organizes activities near us, but one of the members who sent me a friend request ended up being anti-vax, so now I'm paranoid about going to any of those events. (FFThC or reasonable reaction?)
I think it's pretty reasonable, especially given all the craziness of the recent outbreaks. Though I may be jaded since I just discovered that Pennsylvania has the second lowest measles vaccination rate. So it's definitely on my mind.
Don't get too nervous. The Amish population causes that to look worse than it is. They don't vaccinate, but they also won't be hanging out with my kid either.

I have always wondered what it would be like to hang out with the Amish. I'm sure they could teach us a lot of things. I didn't know they didn't vaccinate though. So, I guess I will just continue to wonder.
My mom just had her house painted by an Amish man. He has been her painter for years. They are very friendly and nice. Also hardworking and diligent. The build most of the houses in our area and they are built well. I hate their treatment of animals though
Well we ended up going to the class. There were 5 other kids there other than Z. It was for 6 and under. At first she was shy, but she warmed up quickly and participated some. She also was a people watcher. It was sort of fun to watch. The class was only a half hour long which was nice. Something I will probably do for her once a month or so.

Interesting fact I learned about the Amish. They can use power tools/modern equipment as long as they don't own it. I was surprised by that.
Birthday party for my friend tomorrow night. I have to drive into NY so I'm not thrilled. No drinking for me. It's a little weird, I don't think I've ever been to a birthday party at a catering hall that the birthday person is throwing for themselves. Is this a thing, do normal people do this or are my friends just weird. Sunday is Declan's first haircut.

Yea this is a little strange. But my friends really don't throw birthday parties for themselves. If anything we will go out to dinner or for drinks.

My group as well usually. I was a little surprised. But hey not my money. Too bad I can't take advantage of open bar.

DH and I went to a co worker's bday party last year. That her husband threw for her ::cough, that she threw for herself::. Invites with a picture of her and everything. It was really weird. She even asked for people to contribute to her Luluelemon (or however you spell that) fund, as that was the theme of her party. I even got a giftbag. I was so awkward. We ate dinner (that they provided and made) and had some drinks. We left when they started playing a "how well do you know the birthday girl" multiple choice question game. It was...odd.

That seems really weird. Maybe its just me be I feel adults shouldn't throw themselves parties unless its like a 30,40 or 50. Like a milestone. I am ok with going out to dinner or for drinks, but a full on party with games and gift bags...just doesn't seem right.
I made it to page 41 of the sitewide UO/FFFC thread in Parenting before I skipped to the last page and decided I wasted enough of the day reading random posts for entertainment. I'm ashamed of myself!

Around page 40 is where I started jumping to the end just to keep up. But then I keep getting lost and trying to go back. I don't know how anybody keeps up with that.
