I listen to a morning show every day on the radio and they had gotten an email from a guy asking for advice. So the situation was this: He was engaged to be married when he received an inheritance from his grandparents for a total of $3.5 Million. His parents suggested he tell his fiance he only received $100,000. Not sure why, but he did just that. They used the money towards a house. So they get married, have kids, make a 6 figure salary.
Fast forward 10 years....he's invested the money and managed to hide it all along from his wife...and the money is now worth $100 million. He wants to come clean but he's worried his wife will be so upset she'll want a divorce. Some listeners called in with their thoughts about how the wife would most likely be upset if she'd wanted to stay home with her kids but had not been given the choice due to financial reasons. And yes that had been the case so of course he's feeling guilty for that. The wife actually listened to the segment and jokingly texted him..."if it's you, I won't be mad!" (and I think all the women listening were secretly hoping it was their husband) But I think it'll be a different story once she realizes it IS her husband.
What would you do if your husband confessed he had been hiding something like that from you?
I'm just shocked he's been able to keep this secret for this long. And holy crap $100 million dollars??? I think I'd be incredibly hurt that he couldn't trust me from the start. And not knowing I could have SAHM all along. Or given a chance to pursue other dreams. Ugh. I'm not sure if I'd want to be in her shoes, even for $100M.
