Do you all plan to buy new toiletries for your hospital bag, or just throw your current ones In when the time comes? Should my bag be ready to just grab and go or is it normal to add things to it when the time comes?
I will only if I need more travel sized toiletries. I didn't care about having my usual things. I just wanted to wash the post delivery funk off. I accumulated a ton of stuff in the hospital. Including MORE gifts from the people who visited while I was there. I kept it pretty small instead of bringing my full size things or having to remember to swoop them up. My bags were ready to go minus my phone charger. There were plenty of places that DH could grab from if needed/forgotten.
Ok, this is going to sound stupid, sorry! Last night we were at an event and they had free tarot and Palm readings there. I'm not one that typically does that kind of stuff, but it was free. Also, side note, I am quite interested in astrology but haven't learned a whole lot about it yet.
So my question. At the end of the reading, the guy asked if we had names picked out and he said if it's a boy, it's a Declan, hands down. But if it's a girl, Nora won't work. He said it is a terrible name for a Taurus and that she would be very confused and unhappy. So I did a little digging, and found some good "Taurus names" that were similar to a name that I loved years ago, Tana!
Do you think it matters? Opinions on Tana? My thought is to ignore it, but if it's a girl and I name her Nora and she's miserable and lost, I'm going to blame myself! (I know this makes me sound crazy...)
I like Nora, go with Nora. I don't necessarily believe in astrology and stuff like but since you do look at ALL the different things that line up to make your child unique: her star sign, her Chinese astrology sign, her "name numbers" etc. Keeping her name as Nora may actually make her different and happy.
Can anyone explain what BH feel like? Is it sharp pains? Or is it like the whole stomach tightening feeling?
Mine were just tightening without pain all on the front side. Similar to clinching my fist. When real contractions began they radiated through my back and had a peak and valley. I could feel them start, peak, and then taper off.

Thanks, I'm really stuck on Nora Jean for a girl and really haven't like anything near as much!

love the name Nora. I'm not one to believe that stuff, so I would stick with your original plans. Ive never heard of the name Tana before. Is it Ta-na or Tan-a? Fwiw, my name is Tara and I'm a Taurus, and I'm pretty happy

Like Ba-"nana" but with a T! That's the best way I know how to explain pronunciation through text.

Do you all plan to buy new toiletries for your hospital bag, or just throw your current ones In when the time comes? Should my bag be ready to just grab and go or is it normal to add things to it when the time comes?
I wanted mine to be ready to go, so I bought travel-sized toiletries. Very handy.

I hadn't even thought of that. Is probably buy a toothbrush to keep in the and a extra toothpaste. Other than that I'd fill empty travel sized stuff. I feel like I could be anywhere and H and I might be apart when the time comes. I also think its a fairly large possibility I'll go into a check up and then not leave and either be induced or so on.
cbrandt1 I think Nora is adorable. I say go with that. I don't see how a name like that could make her unhappy and miserable. I think it's a sweet name.

This is a good idea. I've been thinking about my hospital bag and logistics lately. I work 30 minutes from home and that's where the hospital is, too. Right now I'm planning to work til I go into labor so I've been trying to decide if I'll keep my bag in my car ready to go in case I go into labor in the city or leave it at home. MH would have to stop at home before coming to the hospital anyway as he works 30 minutes in the opposite direction of me. Any thoughts?
Also, I missed the whole "bitter snatches" start over Christmas, can anyone point me in the direction of its origin? I think it's hilarious, but would love a little background.

Mine was in my car where the car seat was in and ready. Even if for some weird reason I didn't end up going by my car, there wasn't much, if anything, that I needed before delivery. Also, he even had time to go back to work for a couple of hours while I was laboring so he could have easily gone home. From the time I went to the hospital to she was born was 17 hours.
I'm sorry, I'm desperately trying to catch up on what I missed now and just skimmed, but regarding hiccups: Yes, you can feel them early and they're not necessarily obvious what they are. My two LOs were both super hiccup-y, and I remember feeling them early on and being all "What IS that, a heartbeat? No wait that's too slow to be a heartbeat..." Cute story though, DD1 got the hiccups as I was holding her on my lap just hours after she was born, and since she was by my stomach the hiccups kind of felt similar, and all the clarity of having the baby outside that had just been inside hit me like an amazing emotional brick. I was like, "This is the same baby with the same hiccups!!!"
