I always suck at the confessions.
So I'll just throw out a random.
We are driving down to Florida in May for vacation and I'm already majorly stressing out about trying to fit everything we'll need in our HONDA CIVIC!!! We went to North Carolina for 4 days back in October and barely fit everything. Now we're going to be gone for a full week and I want to vomit. Also, DH just informed me that we'll need to fit his golf clubs because he'll be golfing with his buddy down there. Umm...ok. And he says he's not worried about fitting everything. yea, that's because you're not the one that KNOWS everything that I will need to bring for our BABY. Your damn golf clubs aren't a priority. The pack n play for our baby to sleep in goes in the car before those. Geez.
ladytiffany24--oh girl I so hear you. In Dec we went with DD to MO and we have a SUV and we still hardly fit everything. Stroller, pack n play, boppy, pump, just to name a few bigger things that took up room. Can you see if you can rent a bigger car? I'm not sure how expensive it is, but might be worth it!
ladytiffany24 I second the advice looking into renting a bigger car. If it makes sense financially it's worth not having to deal with the stress of hauling everything. Mention to DH if he wants to take his golf clubs then we need to a rent and car and see what he says then!

ladytiffany24 - Other ideas for making it work. Buy a cheap pack-n-play at Wal-Mart when you get to Florida and leave it behind with a note saying "free to a good home". Depending on where you're staying, someone on the housekeeping staff might be able to use it. I think you can get one for $39 or so. Look into getting one of those hard shell things that go on top of your car. I call them hamburger boxes, but I'm not sure what the official name is. Take 1 pack of diapers and buy more when you get to FL.

Thanks for the suggestions! Definitely got me thinking.
And I'm going to look into what the cost would be for us to rent a larger vehicle. I've been telling DH that I really want a minivan (yes, I'm one of those people that's excited to get one). And I've got him partially convinced. I think if we try to make this trip with just one of our Civics, i'll have him all the way convinced.

When we vacationed in FL with the family, we flew but BIL and SIL rented a minivan with unlimited miles for the week so they could transport all their stuff, 2 kids, and 2 grandparents.

Vent: The apt. upstairs has been vacant for a few weeks. They've been making repairs to it for over a week now. Anytime a tenant moves out, they repaint the apt. and replace the carpeting. I don't know if they're replacing carpeting today or what, but they started hammering just as DS went down for his nap. Are you fucking kidding me? No, just no. I called the front office and complained. They were all like, I understand and apologize, but they have to do the work, it should be done quickly and should be just today. Yeah, that's fine, and it doesn't bother me, at any other time except while he's napping. I don't know if they called the workers or not, but the hammering stopped almost right away.
Now they're hammering very, very lightly. Lol. They must hate me around here. I have never complained about noise or anything, but I have requested service in the apartment for a variety of things... way more than should probably be necessary in the less than two years we've been here.
Good to know. I have to tell you that I read this on my work pc first and PB pictures never show up so I was like WTF is she talking about, did I ask about a color and didn't realize it? I was having a bit of deja vu because I felt the same way I did when I asked H what color the white and gold dress was last night.
H said it was blue/black but then he saw the buzzfeed article that has the picture stacked and he said one was blue/black and the other white/gold. I'm team white/gold.

Um woah... Not trying to add to your stress, but don't know how that's even possible. We can barely manage a weekend away in our Subaru Outback. Another vote for renting something bigger (mini van?). It'll probably ease your stress a lot if you just make the decision to do that now, so you can stop worrying about it for the next 3 months. Otherwise, you're going to waste a whole day of vacation shopping for things you couldn't fit in the car!
ladytiffany24, Another suggestion, maybe. Where are you staying when you get there? Some hotels have pack & play type things for babies. Do you have family there? We're flying to Florida in May, and I'm planning on ordering some things that we want to have while we're there and sending them to the house ahead of time. For example, a box of diapers, wipes, swim diapers, and one of those 8-sided gate play-pen things. Then when we leave we will probably box up the playpen and ship it back to our house.

JoBub We're staying at a friends condo on the beach so no pack & play. We'll defs be minimally traveling and will plan to buy a lot once we're there (diapers, wipes, etc).

Is there anyone who could bring it in off the doorstep if you shipped things a few days ahead of time? This is one of the things I'm stressing about too, because our flight arrives in FL at like 10:30pm. So we are not going to be able to shop until after the first night. I have family in the area, so they can take care of it if I have things delivered the week before. I'm even considering offering one of my high-school aged cousins some cash to go to the grocery store and stock the fridge the day before we get there.

That could definitely be a possibility! I'd have to the cost of the shipping though. Because in the end, it might just be best for us to decide on renting a larger vehicle.
