Ok I wanted to start a new thread bc I didn't know where to put this. So I took DD to urgent care for follow up since we are still oot. The EI is clearing up and the doc made some recommendations before flying that I totally don't agree with. He said no dairy before flying bc it could make her snotty/mucus and recommended pedilyte instead, is this even acceptable for an almost 11 month old? Also recommended Motrin 30 mins before flying, which is fine but he recommended 4.5ml. I said wow that seems like a lot, he said maybe you are under dosing, the recommended dose on the bottle for her weight, 21 pounds, is 1.875 ml. Anyway, I'm totally not following his advice but just amazed esp on the dosage. What do you all think?
I always dose on weight. Maybe he was mixing up the Tylenol dose with the Motrin dose. For LO's weight, which is around 19 lbs, I think we're at 3.75mL for the Tylenol.
No clue about he dairy. I think Peidalyte is ok if it's needed, but it's not like she isn't keeping fluids down. If anything, you could give her a sippy cup of of water.
I have a print out that says 4.5 ml of children's ibuprofen. Well we give infant ibuprofen. On the dairy, our flight isn't until 1020 am I can't imagine holding off on a bottle in the morning and just giving pedialite. Anyway, just can't believe he would make these recommendations, I guess you never know at an urgent care.

Hmm - maybe it's because he's thinking Children's Ibuprofen instead of the infant suspension. I looked and there's a difference in the amount of active ingredient per dose between the 2 types.
Your normal dose of infant:
(1.875 ml of infant suspension/1.25ml) x 50mg of ibuprofen = 75mg of ibuprofen
His dose and the difference in active ingredient between them:
(4.5 ml of infant suspension/1.25ml) x 50mg of ibuprofen = 180mg of ibuprofen
(4.5 ml of children's suspension/5mL) x 100 mg of ibuprofen per 5 mL = 90 mg of ibuprofen

Ummm... I probably wouldn't follow his advice about no dairy/giving pedilyte. I wouldn't be opposed to using acetaminophen or ibuprofen, pre-flight, with the EI. Correct dosage, of course. At least he didn't suggest benadryl before the flight...
About the incorrect dosage. Does the paper show table with dosagese to use or is it just the 4.5ml he suggested? If it's just the single dose, I wonder if he just selected the wrong one.
mom2boxers all the dosage info went over my head, but I'm sure you've got it correct. I thought children's motrin was for 2 yrs and up? That's why I'm surprised by the dosing info he gave.
mrscatfarmer13 there is no chart, just a print out from the doc that recommends 4.5 mL of children's ibuprofen 30 mins before the flight. I don't think he looked at my daughter's age, but it was on the chart.
They are saying up to 10 inches starting after 1 pm.
If your flight is in the morning, you'll probably make it before the heavy stuff.
Are you effing kidding me?! So over the snow.
Also, DH's flight is supposed to arrive back into CVG tomorrow night at 11:11pm. Something tells me that won't be happening
Oh no! I sure hope he doesn't get delayed, but it sounds like a good chance I'm def over this weather esp since I've been in FL for a week, I want to come home but I don't at the same time.

ladytiffany24 and vlagroupie good luck tomorrow, I'm sorry. But I think spring is only like 5 weeks away right?
ladytiffany24 how long after your clog (saw your post on the breastfeeding board) did it take for your supply to come back all the way? How long did it take for you to completely remove the clog? Did you stop taking fenugreek while the clog was there? Sorry- 20 questions. I am needy.

vlagroupie - Go with your gut. I've heard that Urgent Cares totally suck when it comes to babes. They just don't know how to handle pediatrics. We're lucky to have Cincinnati Children's Urgent Cares here. I think Miami Children's also has their own urgent cares.
I had no idea we were getting that much more snow! I love the snow. But I'm really over the cold. Can't we get snow and still have a moderate 60*? I'm just hating the constant bundling up. And bundling DS up. And leaving the house becomes a two hour ordeal. Ugh.
Yes you have to be careful about children's versus infant. My doc said to just buy only the children's so the dosage will be the same between tylenol and ibuprofen. We give 3.75 of children's tylenol or ibuprofen for my 22 lb lo. You would be correct in giving 1.85 of infants ibuprofen. I do like the infants because it's less liquid to try to make lo swallow, but the bottles are tiny and more expensive, imo.
Also- lo can have formula/ breastmilk before the flight right? That's different than "dairy"?

My randoms: I hate winter. Today is my first day back at work with ellie and the twins. It's not too bad so far. I accidentally poured regular milk in my cereal this morning and didn't realize it until my last couple of bites. I'm supposed to be using the almond milk. Oops. I guess we will see if DDs symptoms get any worse.

I was lucky. Mine was gone after a day or 2. Or, at least I didn't feel it anymore or notice any pain. I wanna say my supply was pretty much back right away or I never really noticed much of a change. I never stopped taking fenugreek. Sounds like your clog is a bit bigger than what I was dealing with.

Maybe drink some extra water today to help dilute anything in your system and flush it out? It works for salt, but I'm not sure about dairy.

It is substantially better today. But I still feel several bumps that weren't there previously. And it still pretty red. I miss spelling like a pancake haha! I am going to start taking Fenugreek again tomorrow. And have you heard of this Lecithin stuff that is supposed to prevent clogs? What is your take on that?

I don't think I've heard of that. Off to google it now!

Random question-- when was everyone able to get their rings back on? I am at 3 months PP this week and it still won't fit. I miss my bling!! I still struggle with a bit of carpal tunnel. I also try to get at least 100 oz of water a day to keep my supply up. Maybe I am still swollen kinda?
I am wondering if I should go ahead and pay to have it sized up or if I should wait? (Note this is also my second wedding ring so I hesitate to size up if I will eventually need to size down again for fear of loosing it).

I still have days where I can't wear mine. I should probably just size up at this point, but I've noticed at least 1-3x a week I can't wear my rings.
I would give your body 9 months to regulate. While nursing, you've still got a lot of pregnancy hormones in you. I didn't have bad swelling so my rings fit but my tummy is just now able to get in my pre preg pants and be buttoned.

I would wait until you've finished nursing. Especially if you plan on adding more intense work outs and/or adjusting your food intake when you're done nursing.

Ahhhhh, mine isn't free. If it was I would have done it a long time ago. And really good point mom2boxers once I am done nursing I will resume heavy workouts (Crossfit and running) and will likely get back on myfitnesspal.
narbuckle01 - maybe pick up a CZ fake e-ring/wedding band that looks similar to what you have so you can have something on and your hand doesn't feel like it's missing something in the meantime?

This is exactly what I did when I was pregnant and swollen.
