Sorry I have been MIA the past few days. I've been busy loving my boy. Tyler Brady was born Friday February 27th at 4:13 pm after a scheduled induction due to high blood pressure
I went to the hospital Thursday night at 7pm. By 830pm a balloon catheter had been placed in my cervix to remain for 12 hours. It was very uncomfortable but not really painful. I had random contractions for a few hours but they eventually stopped by midnight.
The balloon caused to much pressure on my bladder that I wasn't able to go to the bathroom. A Foley catheter was placed for the night.
Between the uncomfortableness and the anticipation of Friday I didn't sleep much. My husband stayed with me too.
Friday morning the Doctor came in about 730am and removed the balloon and the catheter and broke my water. Ahhh! Sweet relief! I was 5cm dialated!!! We were psyched!!
We started Pitocin at 830am. Labor started slow, when the contractions got worse I was able to breath through them. Around 12 I got up to go to the bathroom, I came back and within a half hour I was begging for an epidural. Labor was coming on hard and quick at this point.
I got my epi around 1 and life was good. I was able to take a small nap.
When I woke up I started feeling downward pressure and I knew it wouldn't be long! I knew my man was ready!
My doctor checked me around 230 and said I was 10cm and that it was go time!!
I started pushing at about 3pm.
My H had one leg and the nurse had the other. They were both awesome coaches and so motivating!
After a bunch of pushing she told me she could see his hair!
Those were the exact words I needed to hear! I was ready to meet my son! 3 or 4 more big pushes and Tyler Brady entered this world
Many people worry about pooping during labor. I totally did, but I didn't give a shit (no pun intended)
I even joked with the nurse about it earlier in the day lol she was very discreet about it and didn't say anything when it happened. My husband updated me. Thanks hunny! lol.
During labor I ended up on oxygen. My BP and baby's heartbeat spiked, so the pedi team was called in to be on stand-by
Tyler was born and was immediately checked over. His breathing was labored. Once we got the green light that he was ok, I was allowed some skin to skin time, and then they took him for a more thorough check.
His body temperature was a little low so they kept him under the lights for a bit before they brought him back to us.
My little man is an awesome snuggle bug! He is very sleepy most days.
I never really realized it was possible to love someone so much
