I am struggling with WW this week. It just seems like some days I'm totally starving and other days I'm completely satisfied with the same amount. I don't know if this is due to fatigue, boredom, milk demand or what. I'm not sure if it's what I'm eating or how I'm splitting up my points. It's frustrating. I have been holding steady with exercise a few times per week though.
I also didn't lose any weight last week, but I did get into some of my old work pants, which I felt good about.

crawford411 Fitting into old work pants is progress...congrats! I hear you on the appetite varying from day to day. Maybe it would help to have more protein on the days that you are hungry especially early in the day?
I think that my downfall is a late dinner and lots of liquid calories. If I get up MOTN to nurse or pump, I desperately need a ginger ale or pink grapefruit juice.
I'm making progress on getting my cardio conditioning back. Cardio is my weak area. I like to run sprints on the treadmill since it's a quick workout and since steady state cardio tends to give me repetitive stress injuries. Also, sprints are supposed to be great for burning belly fat, so here's hoping.
I'm actually running again! I've taken the weekend off for recovery time before starting up again. Feels good to have the first few out of the way though!

I was thinking last night that maybe we could talk a little about non-weight goals. Why are you guys working out and eating better other than losing weight?

Forgot to quote crawford411 re: other reasons to work out.
I feel better and have more energy when I work out. I also have a higher sex drive, and I manage my stress much better.
Also, I still play team sports, and even though they're non-competitive, I can't turn off the competitive part of my brain, so I need myself to be stronger and faster.
I was thinking last night that maybe we could talk a little about non-weight goals. Why are you guys working out and eating better other than losing weight?
I'm primarily doing this to get in better shape, since with BF it's hard to go too crazy dieting (I'm amazed that you are doing WW with BF!) I do want to focus on eating better so that I'm setting good examples for DS (we do pretty good, but I eat a lot of whatever I can grab when I'm busy). I also want to be strong. I did a triathlon a couple months before I got pregnant, and I felt fantastic, and then it was really difficult and painful to exercise during pregnancy, so I feel like I'm starting over. I was actually thinking this morning about how much energy I'll need to run after DS in the next year, and I want to feel like that isn't a challenge.
I work out for health reasons. I'm a type 2 diabetic, so exercise helps keep my blood sugar levels down. It also keeps my restless leg syndrome in check, and it helps my depression. Feeling strong and capable is also a good motivator.

For me, it's a bit of a snowball effect. I feel so much better when I work out. I have more energy. I have a more productive day.
Also, in the back of my mind, I know that health wise, it's the right thing to do both short term and long term (osteoporosis and other potential diseases that come with old age).
I don't have any specific goals although I'd like to sign up for a spartan race one day (sorry to mention this again )

My main goal was to get back in control of my body after baby. I lost a lot of myself, including a lot of confidence in the way I looked and felt. I was so desperate for some "me time" and found out that exercise was a way that I could get it while still looking after the baby. It feels really good to do something just about me.
Now, I really want to set a good example for Sunny and help her grow up exercising and eating healthy. I also want to keep challenging myself. I've never been the type of person who had a lot of cardiovascular stamina or energy and suddenly I do! I'm motivated by seeing what else my body is capable of. I am hoping that some time this year, I'll get the guts to start running, which I've never really been able to do before.

crawford411 You make a good point about setting a good example. Part of being fit for me is also having an active lifestyle that I can enjoy with DS. If I don't want him to plop himself in front of the TV I should lead by example and stay active myself.
My main reason for wanting to be in better shape is so that I can live a long healthy life and be there for my family. When I'm out of shape I'm a bit of a slug and have no energy. I never want to be to tired to play with my kid!
DH and I both want to raise DD and any future children we may have with an active lifestyle and a mostly healthy diet so that it just becomes normal life for them. Also, we are always happier when we feel healthy so it keeps us a lot more positive in our everyday life.
Eta: This is a really good topic to discuss! Thanks for bringing it up crawford411

I want to be healthy and to be able to keep up with my kids. I also want to have happiness within myself and self confidence like I used to have.
My awesome fit buddy bsquaredmsquared and I are doing 30 day shred together! I started this morning, and the whole time I was remembering what crawford411 said about joking that Jillian Michaels was saying "ignore the pee running down your leg! If my 400-pound people can do it, so can you!" I am already sore, but I have renewed zeal to get in shape! I'm really proud of you ladies and all the hard work you are putting in. Keep it up!

I'm playing a softball doubleheader tonight, and then I'm getting back on track with running. I'm committing to getting on the treadmill 3 times this week.
It's finally nice again and not raining this week. I plan on taking lots of walks with dd and the dog when I'm not at work.
I'm currently reading Whole30. DH and I have contemplated this for a long time and I have researched it alot. I am getting serious about planning this. I really want to examine my relationship with food and eating and find out what foods make me feel awful. I want to eat things that are nourishing my body and also helping dd grow strong and get what she needs. I think that this will be a HUGE challenge for me but one that is attainable. So, I'm putting it out here. I don't have a start date yet but I want to commit to eating that way for the 30 days. Please hold me to it!

If you're a terrible partner then I am too! I'm still slacking on working out as regularly as I should, but I'm starting to track my food through the LoseIt app. Since I have to write it down, I'm thinking more about what I eat!

I actually really like the lose it app! It's not too guilt-trippy, and does a pretty good job with having tons of foods to look up. I used it more before I was pregnant and I use it now to look up foods when I eat out (insert Firehouse subs horror here).

I feel like Whole 30 would be really hard if you didn't cook. Do you like to cook? If so, I'd be happy to help you with recipes!

SOMEBODY DO THIS APP WITH ME:
I picked beginner, it's 8 weeks, 3x/week. It tells you what to do while you're doing it. Each workout is 35 minutes. I'm thinking I'll try this starting Monday and do M/W/F.
Oh no... I thought we were just doing a sugar detox, but DH has traveled down the rabbit hole and "we" are trying to avoid any processed foods. THAT'S ALL THE FOOD!
Luckily, once he leaves for training in a week I can eat again

If you are going to do no processed foods, try teacking your meals. It makes counting things so easy!
Can I join in on this thread? I came off maternity leave, and jumped right into tax season, so I was pretty MIA unless I was able to get some quick posts in while pumping. Because I was unable to make gym or workout time happen during tax season, I focused solely on my diet during that time. I've been able to drop all the pregnancy weight, but as we're all aware, my body looks nothing like it did before. I amazed at how much it's changed again after the second pregnancy. On the plus side, I finally have hips. My sisters and I challenged each other to compete in a triathlon August 9. My baby sister is getting married August 28, so we're doing it a little as motivation for looking hot in our dresses. I've just started training in the past two weeks, and I have a 5K this Friday.
After DS2's baptism this past weekend, I clearly need a dietary reset, so I'm also on day 2 of a Whole30. This is my third Whole30. My first two have resulted in awesome dietary results, but also 2 pregnancies.
I did ok, with 4 workouts, and pretty good food choices. I decided to do a race called a Stroke & Stride on July 16. It's 750 meter swim then 5K run. I'm excited to get my booty back in shape! GL bennikki! I did a tri awhile back and used this for training and it was awesome!http://www.shape.com/fitness/training-plans/shapes-3-month-triathlon-training-plan
kellrr, DH and I actually own a gym, and one of our trainers is part of a triathlon training group. They get together 3 times a week and work on swimming, running, or biking. They do things like push you around in the water to mimic the craziness that can happen at the starting line. They also raise money with their tri's and all the money goes to our local cancer treatment center where my sister is a NP, and my husband is a cancer survivor.
