AW: DD slept from 915 to 545 Friday night (after she gave me those rough couple of days). It hasn't happened since, but it was sooo nice even if for one night! Rant: DD is now refusing the bottle. Good thing I take her to work, so she technically doesn't NEED one, but it freaks me out that I can't do anything without her for longer than a couple of hours for fear that she won't eat from a bottle while I'm gone. So we are working on that now. bluerainfire, I've thought about this. I need to work on saying negative things about myself out loud. As mrscatfarmer13 mentioned, I'm still having a hard time with my new mommy body. I'm only 11 weeks PP, but I'm anxious to fit into jeans that aren't maternity. But it's also hard while BFing... I crave all the sweets, esp chocolate. Its worse than when I was pregnant. Before baby, I was definitely all about how I felt and not the numbers, and I hope to get back to that.
What bottle are you using and who is doing the feedings? It took a while for us to find one DD would take. And I can't be around when she is bottle fed or she just wants me. We trained her on the bottle for several days offering when she wasn't starved but hungry. Now I try not to go longer than 2 days without a bottle or we have to retrain.

narbuckle01, she has taken the munchkin latch and Dr Brown's basically since birth (we had a lot of feeding issues at the beginning and she was supplemented with pumped milk often), so she's no stranger to the bottle. then all of a sudden one day she wants nothing to do with it. DH always feeds her the bottle (usually around 6am so I could get some extra sleep), so we are going to try giving it to her at a different time to see if that helps. We also have an avent bottle we can try. If that doesn't work, I'll probably leave the house and see if that helps (instead of just being in a different room).

Sounds like you got a solid plan babylove518! Since she is a bit older, (almost 3 months right?) it seems like she is just recognizing the difference more so than before, and voicing her preference.

narbuckle01, yep almost 3 months. I just keep reminding myself I'd rather her refuse the bottle than the breast, but hopefully she comes around soon! We need a date night, but baby needs to eat!

Actually, that is the same age that DD started refusing bottles too. She was totally on board with them, and then about 4 weeks ago was when she started refusing. Crazy!

I was going to say, my issue was always getting him back on the boob after a bottle. He preferred bottles until daycare and then switched back and forth better. It may work itself out with age. Have you tried Tommy Tippee? dr. Browns worked for us (and actually those nipples that came with the nursers worked best since he needed a very slow flow). But after he got a little bigger, the Tippee flow seemed to be better- still all 0 flow, but I noticed DrBrowns was slower.

I'll keep Tommy tippee bottles in mind if the avent ones don't work... Thanks!
babylove518, if you know anyone with kids ask if you can borrow their bottle and try a few before buying. (If you are comfortable with a sanitized friends bottle).
Ack! I missed out on so much today! I've been here dirty lurking, I just haven't had a chance to reply. On the topic of body image: I think there are age appropriate ways to talk about a healthy diet. I think for young children, the most you need to teach is that it's healthy to eat a little bit of everything, and not too much of one thing. At some point they can learn about food groups, and you can talk about getting each food group during the day. That's the point where they would realize that some foods (sweets) are "unhealthy," but we can all still enjoy them in moderation. It makes me sad when kids learn at an early age that carbs are bad, or about counting calories to lose weight.
narbuckle01, is she taking the bottle now? What worked for you guys?
Persistence and patience really. It only ever took a day for her to get used to the bottle again. But it would be a miserable day. It seemed to help if we dribbled milk from the bottle on her lip/in mouth to let her know it was milk in there. Definitely helped when I wasn't around. And now we don't go more than 2 days without a bottle so we don't have to retrain her.

Oh and we went through nuk, playtex, tommie tippie, Dr Brown wide mouth, avent natural, and MAM bottles early on. Settled on a como tomo. I swear by them and have been preaching to everyone about them. They're soft squishy like a boob and she takes to them well.
Family and friends have been asking for prayers and support for about a week now, and I don't think anyone expected this to happen, or to happen so quickly. I was definitely surprised when I jumped on FB today and saw what had happened. I can't even imagine what his wife must be going through.
