Good Morning Ladies! Don't remember if anyone is testing today but if so, here's hoping for some BFPs!
Cycle/Month: 1/25 (1 month since 4 month break, so I guess I start over? Not sure ...)
CD/DPO: 22/5
Timing: Great
Testing Plans: 7 dpo and on
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: I have to test as early as possible, due to needing progesterone the second we confirm. So, thank god I stocked up on some ICs.
GTKY: On a scale of of 1-10, how adventurous are you & your partner in the bedroom? (1 = pretty vanilla, missionary, no costumes/toys and 10 = 50 Shades of Grey expert )
I'd say a 5 on average, higher if booze is consumed!!
Thats what I thought! That's what I thought I told the lady when I scheduled my yearly, that I wanted to do a preconception, but the OBGYN actually told me not to keep TTC until we had another visit, where she does blood testing to find out if we were carriers of various things, and such. What does this help? Besides knowing what to test for, in ute or after birth when we do get KU. She said something about 'Then we'll know if we should go right to lVF' which confused the hell out of me. Do they have the science to pick and choose sperm now? I didn't think they did.
It seems a little excessive to me, I mean we talked about everything I've learned here, and she was really impressed at how much I was already doing. I have no scary genetic diseases in my family, and she wasn't very specific about what they test, besides like Chicken pox or something. (Which I had as I child, so what does that mean?)
Your doctor sounds strange to be completely honest. I would run away from a doctor who is talking about IVF when you've been TTC for 2 cycles. WTAF.
Well it wasn't that she was pushing anything like that, she wanted to test us both to find out what genes we might be carrying, and if we did, then go to IVF (she talked so fast, it may have been something else she suggested, but that's what I heard). She suggests this to all her clients I guess, this genetic screening.
ETA I guess, upon my further research, you can have IVF done, and genetically test the egg so that you don't have two of the same recessive, dangerous genes. I didn't know that, and it makes sense why she even mentioned that in the first place now. I guess I just wasn't expecting something this extensive, and I'm wondering who else may have done the screening, and why or why not.
I think the idea is just to hit a day or two in your FW. More than that, THEN YAY. you can get pregnant from sex on any day of your FW.
ETA: You get a high rating from hitting 3 days in FF's window of -3 to +1 I believe. Good= 2 days. Low(poor? I haven't gotten this)=1 or 0 I assume.
I was just wondering because I saw someone mentioning that -2 was the best day. For some reason this pattern works for us, we've done it two months in a row now without realizing it. Wondered if we should be changing it up, but so long as we are in the FW, coolio
Some experiments and retrospective data sorting indicate that if the only time in fertile window (considered -4 through +1) you had sex then the highest percent if success came from -2. The problem is that it's hard to know what other factors may or may not have been at play there, you know? That is separate from multiple sessions of sex, because it is impossible to tell what session of sex resulted in pregnancy when multiple times occur in the window.
Your best odds are to have sex multiple times in the fertile window. Presupposing normal male function, the more sex you have, the more sperm are present to increase the odds of surviving sperm in the right place at the right time, increasing the odds of conception. If you can only manage once, aim for -2 if you possibly can, but generally aim for the most number of times possible.

Might as well hop right in.
Cycle/Month: 1/1
CD/DPO: 21/10
Timing: O and O-3
Testing Plans: I test starting at 10dpo due to meds. Neg, not surprisingly.
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: After 29 cycles of charting (while TTC my first, while TTA and then NTNP and this, my 1st cycle TTC #2), I have come to the realization that my temps mean nothing. The only thing that makes any difference for me is an LP over 14 days. And - I hope this time around isn't as difficult as the last time.

meerkatmillie Thanks for the input and the chart stalk. I'm far from boarding the crazy train and just in case I didn't O ( because I've had some fertile CM today) I'm using OPK's and having sex. Hopefully it goes up quite a bit tomorrow though!! Thank you!

This is my first TWW post! Cycle/Month: 2 CD 21 5 DPO
Timing: -5, -3, -2, -1, 0, +1
Testing plans: Monday- that's when my wondfos arrive in the mail!
Rants/ raves: I'm feeling really great about my timing, and my temp is still elevated (although I know it's still really early) but I just read that saliva can kill sperm- I did not know that! I know it's TMI- but now I'm afraid that a couple of times I may have ruined my chances...oh well? Have others heard this as well? I'm also always thinking about my weight loss journey and how my extra weight can affect my chances of pregnancy- it's like having a dark cloud hanging over my head! I guess only time and a HPT will tell...
GTKY: I guess DH and I are about a 4- we know what we like and we stick to it for the most part. Never boring, and always satisfying lol
GTKY: On a scale of of 1-10, how adventurous are you & your partner in the bedroom? (1 = pretty vanilla, missionary, no costumes/toys and 10 = 50 Shades of Grey expert ) 6
Testing Plans: I left work on my break to go get a HPT. Ive been searching 5 different dollar stores this week with no luck. WTF its a pregnancy test drought. So I went to the drug store and paid 11$ for two. POAS in the work bathroom like the professional nurse I ma. BFP!! My jennatles work!!
Tell Mr. Jennatles: I have a big sis shirt at home (because you know ttgp craziness made me buy it months ago) Im stuck at work doing a 16 hour shift IM SO ANXIOUS TO GET HOME.
To my bump bitches. THank you so much for your knowledge. It gave me the patience and snark to get through the last 5 months. I am so grateful for the community and how it quickly found its new home. Please ALURT me on all the crazies and I wish your uteruses all the good KARAMAL.
Bah, for blue dye, ill retest tomorrow, but itw as positive in 40 seconds so Im optimistic for now. Lemme attach a pic.

Don't get too worked up. Saliva is not an ideal host for sperm, but the presence of saliva is not a huge problem. If you are using saliva as lubricant, consider pre-seed or other sperm friendly lube. If you're just enjoying some oral foreplay, seriously not a concern.
As for the weight loss/extra weight - fwiw, I am morbidly obese and have been for years. I was at my highest weight ever when my daughter was conceived and am now down about 45 lbs from that weight this go round and still working on it. Obviously, being in peak physical condition is ideal, but plenty of overweight women have no trouble conceiving or carrying or delivering. Just continue on your weight loss journey and focus on being healthy - that is the best thing you can do, and hey! Something else to distract from ttc!

Thanks so much for reaching out!! I feel like I'm the only lady out here TTC who also may need to lose weight- congrats on the weight loss!!! Keep us posted on your weight loss journey and I will do the same!
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: mild cramping today but that is about it. My AF temps were high when I first started temping so I'm just going to wait and see what happens in the coming days. My pre BCP cycles were 30 days long so I think my body is trying yo adjust from the hormones right now.
GTKY: On a scale of of 1-10, how adventurous are you & your partner in the bedroom? (1 = pretty vanilla, missionary, no costumes/toys and 10 = 50 Shades of Grey expert ) maybe a 3 or 4. Nothing too wild but not boring for sure!

Congrats @saveourship and @jennatles!
@mrsy I'm guessing your doctor was talking about the Counsyl test (or another lab's similar test). Without totally nerding out on you, it's most likely not necessary and definitely not recommended by any of the major medical organizations. I worked in an MFM clinic for a few years around the time this testing was becoming popular, and we never recommended it to our patients. The likelihood of you AND your partner being a carrier for the conditions it tests for is really low, and the test doesn't even look for all the possible mutations for every condition they claim to test for. Sorry, that was longer than I intended...if you have additional questions about this or what testing IS recommended, let me know.

Honestly, and this isn't a slam against your OBGYN, but she probably has NO idea what it tests for. And even if she were to read you the list of the conditions they test for, I can almost guarantee she doesn't know what most of them are because they are super obscure genetic diseases. Like 1:1,000,000 type obscure.
Dumb question possibly. If I test again (12 hours later) would i likely be able to tell if its an evap line? I know 12 months wont likely make it any darker because hcg levels wont change much but how likely is a double evap if thats what it is?

If I was in your shoes and it was really making me crazy, I might run out and get a pink dye test. I don't have much experience with them, but I've found them a little easier to read (less questionable, more clear) than the blue ones... FX for you!
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Had a temp drop today and started spotting, fuck. My LP is so screwed up I am going to have to break down and make a Dr appt and get some blood work. I'm 35 and just hit 6 months. My LP has been 7 days, 11 days, 16 days, and looks like will be 8 days this month. There are no RE closer than an hours drive away from me. There is a fertility specialist about 30 mins drive away, but they are not an RE. I'm going to make a appt with my OB and see if I can get him do draw some labs and get referral. Can I get a link or something to what labs I should try to get him to order before I see a specialist that way I will at least make some progress. He will pretty much write anything I tell him to as far as labs go because we work at the same hospital. I also have MTHFR, so it is another complication.
GTKY: On a scale of of 1-10, how adventurous are you & your partner in the bedroom? (1 = pretty vanilla, missionary, no costumes/toys and 10 = 50 Shades of Grey expert ) I would say 9. We get pretty exciting with toys, costumes, roll playing and such. But I have not been able to talk H into anything more than lite bondage.
heyyy, it's another MTHFR person! What has your doctor told you about it? Anything? Mine just tells me I need to take extra folate. How did you find out you had it?
Nope not really I have learned more from my own research and the fact that both my sisters have it. I have heard that folate is bad that we need the broken down form methylfolate. But my OB/Gyn I had been talking to died so the new one might know more.

Hey - I just noticed this. There is almost 0% chance that you will get a positive pregnancy test at 7dpo since implantation typically does not occur until 7-10dpo. There is a image of HPT accuracy on the Newbie Blog, which I believe has been moved over here somewhere, but I know that the percentage of accuracy for 10DPO is only 35%.
