Less feedings when starting solids

That's so hard to call. Around 6m, my LO went from being an efficient nurser to being a super-efficient nurser. I didn't think she could possibly be getting what she needed in 4-5 minutes, but she was.

So, it's hard to know whether your LO is taking more in those other feeds as part of developmental shift OR is getting too many solids and therefore cutting back. You could experiment with pulling back on quantity of solids to see if LO nurses more. If you are pumping enough, you could also up the bottle amounts to 4 ounces (we hit 5oz around 7m).

If lo seems happy I would ride it out. Just make sure solids are after nursing/ bottle not before. Baby food has very little calories so shouldn't replace a feed per parents doing, but baby may just be ready.

We started feeding LO solids around 6 months as well but didn't notice much of a reduction of milk until he was about 10 months old. That may be due to the fact that he didn't pick up solids right away (we did BLW). I do agree with PPs that I would probably play around with the amount of solids that I'm feeding and make sure that I'm offering breast milk before offering solids.

@zerozeroone I swear I didn't follow you over here from July , but as LO has started to get a better hang of solids (mostly just cereal still), we've been sending that to DC along with pumped milk. Since I'm just keeping up with what she drinks, it feels good for her to have a little something else while we're separated, and it doesn't negatively impact any of our feeding times in the evening (I'd say we do 2.5 feedings between work and bed - one at pickup (3:30), another one at home if the one at pickup was short (4:30-5) and then bedtime (6:15))

Your schedule is very similar to ours! I think this will work a lot better. I love feeding him solids because the interaction is so fun but I can do it on the weekend and before I know it he will be eating multiple times a day!

If she eats well at pickup, I'll do solids between 4:30-5 (also a fun thing for Daddy to to when he gets home!) Trying to introduce new foods at home, and make sure she's ok with it before sending to DC.
