I was talking to my mom earlier today and she said her period was late. I asked how do you know if you even ovulated yet? She replies by saying everyone knows all cycles last exactly 28 days. I told her no that's just an average it can be more or less and not to worry unless she went 60 days without one. To which she responded "you're wrong. I've never heard a doctor say that. You can go ask one yourself they all say every cycle is 28 days" I started explaining again and now she's talking about going to the doctor because she's on day 30. Then she says her cycles are late every month because she's "irregular". How can I explain this in an easier way to her? I dont want her running to the Dr everytime she has a "late" period. She's 39. I cant believe she doesn't know all this yet

Yes, my mom is young to have an adult child. She was Very young when I was born. I figured since she has four kids that she already knew this stuff. I was wrong. I gave her the book. The rest is up to her I guess

If I were to tell my mom that we are TTCing the announcement would come with a copy of the book. She thinks that one has to abstain from alcohol for the entire time that you're TTCing, and she calls chemical pregnancies "being hormonal"

You've done what you can. Let's hope she reads it.

I remember what brought up the conversation now! She asked if I had started my period yet because if I had she should start next week (according to her 28 day "plan")

Yeah, having kids doesn't mean they know how this stuff works. My sister got pregnant on birth control 3 times. She has zero clue about any of this.
