2nd Birthday... getting closer

Yesterday we went to our little cousin's 2nd birthday party (her mom is DH's first cousin, so not exactly sure what that makes us to her). Anyway it was super chaotic. My little cousin didn't want anything to do with any of the presents, was really shy, and overwhelmed. Her dad took her out of the main room a few times to calm her down and give her small time outs. It really made me think about the size of DD's party. Last year we had all our immediate and extended family (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandma, and grandpa,etc) It was a lot of people. Just with DH's immediate family and us there are 14 of us.  He has 2 cousins and their SO's plus our little cousin (5), his Aunt and Uncle, and grandma and grandpa (4). That makes for a list of 23 plus I was thinking about our one set of friends that have 3 kids (5 more). That is close to 30 people. I suggested to DH maybe we just do his immediate family for DD's 2nd birthday and he said he really wants his whole family there (mine is in another state). As we get closer to July are anyone's plans changing?

We will most likely have a small party for DD. I think my parents are planning on coming, which means my in laws won't come (for whatever reason, my mil dislikes my mom so they won't visit at the same time). My husbands grandparents might come if his uncle can drive them. I'll also invite my best friend, her husband, and her 3 year old DD. I'm probably going to invite DHs cousins, but they most likely won't come. Any time we invite them over they never show up. I think the total number of people will be around 10. Now that you've made me figure out the guest list...I guess I just need the theme now. Anyone have any really cute ideas?

We're doing an Elmo theme. DD loves Elmo and characters from Play with me Sesame. I'm excited about it.

Those both sound cute! I'm thinking we will end up doing Mickey Mouse. DD is obsessed with Mickey Mouse clubhouse.

Still planning a lemonade stand theme. Hobby Lobby had a ton of lemonade stuff out for spring so I've been picking up a few things here and there. And Aldi had really yummy sparkling lemonade in pretty glass bottles for like $2.49 so I picked up a bunch of those.

It will still be a small party with just a few friends.
