I'm a resident dr and work a zillion hours a week, and until July I was an intern, which was even worse! I barely had time to stop at red lights. In July things slowed down a little, but I couldn't keep up enough to add anything timely to the discussion until maternity leave. And for the first part of maternity leave, I was trying to catch up on everything I'd been neglecting since I started residency in July 2013, but then I was huge and uncomfortable and didn't feel much like doing anything except sitting on my rear end, so that's what I did. And read TB on my phone, and was finally able to semi-keep up! I'm a FTM and don't have much of anything to add most of the time, but I really like to learn from everybody else's advice and experience!

Also, to be honest - every time I would decide to delurk, it seemed like someone would get the smackdown on the board for some reason or other, and I'd dive back behind the ficus in the corner!

Dude. Loved school, was always playing school when I was a kid. Got my undergrad degree after high school, then went to grad school, then med school, and now I'm in residency which is still a kind of school, I guess. So I'm in, like, the 31st grade.

i wouldn't call myself delightful. I'll let y'all decide, you can tell me later. Re: TV - impossible to pick one! If forced to do so, it would be Breaking Bad. Also loved Dexter, but the way it ended was so stupid that it almost negated all of my love for the whole show. Love Game of Thrones. The Office, Arrested Development, Seinfeld. Scrubs (which, IMO, is the most accurate depiction of medicine on TV).

See above for answer to #1. I never did read everything, which was the problem! I've drifted in and out since ... May, maybe? More frequently after June when I finished my intern year, and even more frequently starting with maternity leave in mid-October. Liking/disliking - hmm. If I did, it wouldn't have been until mid-October when I had time to read regularly. I wasn't able to read enough to really even distinguish much about who was who until November. I think the first thread I read all the way through was the in-law thread around Thanksgiving.

Bah! Real life intervened. The attending showed up about 4 hours early for rounds, so the afternoon has been a mad scramble.

Will think about my favorite dirty joke, too! I get serious when someone asks me for a "favorite" something. I'm afraid I'll be held to it, or something, so I have to contemplate whether something is REALLY my favorite. It's weird.

Thinking about this, I decided that I must have really liked being pregnant (or else I already have pregnancy amnesia), because I could only come up with a couple of things that would even be in the running for least favorite. Both related to the last six weeks or so. #1 - Always being horribly uncomfortable no matter what position I tried to sleep in, and basically registering on the Richter scale every time I tried to turn over in bed, and #2 the extreme fatigue - feeling like I'd been hit by several buses at once, only to get up and be immediately flattened by a tank.

Loved:
-In general, everyone is really nice to pregnant ladies.
-All of LO's aqua aerobics - loved the flips, kicks, and wiggles, especially when I first started feeling them. So weird in the most awesome way.
-Built-in company in the middle of the night when I was on 28-hr call (she liked to go into Octopus Mode around 3AM).
-Peeking at her with the portable ultrasound when I had a free minute at work. I would record the screen with my phone and send the clips to my husband and my mom - I have hours of precious video backed up in about five different places. The first time I was watching her with the ultrasound and saw her open her eyes? So, so precious.
-I actually felt pretty.
-Maternity scrubs are the most comfortable garment on the face of the earth. Scrubs are comfortable anyway, but maternity scrubs?? They're on a whole other level.
-Realizing what an awesomely unicorny unicorn DH is - he took such great care of me/us. For example, when I was diagnosed with GDM around 15 weeks, I cried like somebody had died. I was an intern, and survived by stealing Poptarts from nurses' stations and eating them while standing up on the elevator. I couldn't see how I would ever be able to keep it under control. He told me not to worry, that he'd help me. No matter what crazy time I got up, he'd get up and pack a bag for me with lunch, snacks, etc., and a list telling me what to eat and when. And he took care of dinner, too. He did that every day from May through October. I mean, who does that?? Nobody does that.

I really shocked myself by how much I loved being pregnant, actually - and how much I love being a mom, too. Very unexpected! I'm actually looking forward to doing it again! (In addition, I may or may not be a little insane!)

So I'm home today because I have flu-like symptoms and wanted to quarantine myself (Mom and Dad are watching Natalie, because I thought I should quarantine from her as much as possible, too). So ask more questions if y'all have them! (It may take me awhile to answer questions involving favorite stuff, though. I've discovered that those stress me out!)
