My Cousin's Baby (Loss Mentioned/Trigger Warning)

I ugly cried last night for an hour because I found out my little cousin lost her 3 month old. I don't know the details, but I can't even stand it.

This poor girl has gone through so much in her very short life. She's only 18, but she's been on her own for 3 years. Her parent's (like mine) are Mennonite, and caught her having sex with her bf when she was 15. Premarital sex is a huge no-no in that community, so their response was to send their "evil" daughter to a camp for troubled women when she was 15 years old. 15, extremely sheltered, and in an environment with drug addicts and prostitutes.

She ran away after 2 months, and ended up with a 29 year old who got her pregnant and went to jail. She's had such hard life, and now her baby is gone. Her family has completely disowned her, and she's states away with absolutely no support system.

My heart is shattered for her.

The funeral was today, and it killed me not to be there.

DH vetoed a 12 hour car ride at 36 weeks. I know he's right, but it still makes me sad.

Whenever I can't make it to funerals, I try to donate to a charity in their name. Maybe a small donation to March of Dimes, or something like that?
