Today for some reason Abby will not eat! Like screams when I try and nurse her. She literally ate for 1 or 2 minutes at 930. Since then she will not even try and latch just starts crying. Has this happened to anyone else before? I don't think she is teething or anything To cause her to have a sore mouth. She lays on the ground to play happily so I don't think it is laying down that is bothering her! I'm lost! Help!

Hmm. LO was like that when she was sick (RSV). The mucous made it hard for her to breathe and she did not want to nurse. With that though she had a fever and was very lethargic. The other time she was fussy with nursing was when she had a ear infection. The pedi noticed it at her 9 month appointment. Once she told me it made sense. It bothered LO to lay on her side and suck/nurse so she was refusing to. Maybe it is something like that?

Hand Foot Mouth did that to Dahlia (not nursing but she didnt want to eat or drink) clearly once the Dr looked in her mouth and saw the sores int eh back of her throat we had our answer why she didn't want to eat. She didn't have much other symptoms either so I wouldnt have known if she hadnt had a regular dr appt scheduled that week anyways. Hope she feels better and eats soon!

Yeah I was wondering if it could be an ear infection thing! She hasn't been sleeping for more than 2 hours at night unless I put her in the swing. So maybe they are bothering her.
We haven't been around anyone with hand foot and mouth as I stay home. But you never know I guess!

Well I had a kid who never wanted to eat and that was just her personality. But we did have a specific incident where she had low grade fevers (not really even noticeable) and a little fussy. It ended up being a labial adhesion/blocked urethra issue. That is way out there though... If it is just one time, I wouldn't be too worried. If it is continueing all day I'd call the nurse line and ask if they want you to bring her in.

Is she still having enough wet diapers? One day I wouldn't be concerned about, but anymore than that I'd start suspecting something else was causing it. I've heard taking a warm bath together recommended a lot during nursing strikes.
^^^I was going to say this. As long as there are enough wet diapers and there aren't any other signs of being dehydrated then I think you're fine. One day could just be a fluke and she'll go back to normal. I've also heard the skin to skin time can help.

Thanks for all the tips! She did finally eat about 330. I think she was just overtired and was fighting sleep. She knew if she ate she would fall asleep. Right after her nap, which she cried herself to sleep for, she ate and was happy and content! It is not her personality to scream like that so I was worried! I guess she is going to be a little stubborn and only do things on her terms when she is ready! Lol
