Thanks ladies I was doing good with everything until the nurse in the most clinical voice ever was like " your numbers should be above 10k, if they are we will schedule an ultra sound to check viability. If they are below then will start watching for a miscarriage". Ohh...okay?!
I mean I get they do this all day but you'd think they could be a bit more human when explaining this stuff.

Did they really have to throw the v word in there like that and be so technical and blunt? I would have been feeling the same thing you did! And I'm kinda mad at them for you!
My office does an ultrasound at your first appt and also calls it a viability scan. They don't check hcg levels first though. And agreed, a little more effort from that lady on the compassion/bedside manner would be nice. Hoping everything turns out great for you.
isolemnlyswear, I've never heard of any of that, so I don't really know what is or isn't normal, but try not to worry! Let us know what the drs office says!
Results are in... hgc : 2569..... not even close to 10,000
When I started googling frantically I found that's still within the normal range though...
I guess I'll impatiently wait for the dr's office to call.
Thats so frustrating that they told you a number it "had" to be above. I dont know too much about Hcgs, but I would wait and see what the dr says. Sorry for the stress
Had our NT scan today. It was not good to say the least. Feeling devastated. Can't even process what is happening. The measurement was high; like 99%. Based on that an my age the doc said 1:34 chance of Down's syndrome and increased risk for the other trisomies. Struggling with where to go from here. She recommended a genetic counselor. She said even if there is no trisomy it is increased risk for heart defects or other problems. I can't stop crying.

I'm so sorry and I wish I could give you a real-life hug! Do you know how quickly you can get in for an appointment? Maybe the test @zerozeroone recommended could be done soon for you?

I'm so sorry lucanjo14, I can't even imagine what you are facing right now. I will be praying for you and your sweet baby. I hope the scan was completely and utterly wrong!

lucanjo14 I am very sorry to hear you didn't get good test results. I hope you are able to meet with a specialist and find out those test results were wrong.

lucanjo14 I'm so sorry about your results. Prayers and hugs to you as you figure this all out. I had my scan yesterday but we don't get the results for a week or so, I just had an ultrasound tech and they don't tell you anything. My heart goes out to you.

lucanjo14 I'm so sorry to hear about this. I can't imagine how stressed you are feeling! I hope you are able to see a genetic counselor soon and get more answers. Will be thinking of you!
Ladies, thank you so much for your support, it means a lot. I've pretty much been a wreck since the scan. I have an appt with a genetic counselor on Tues, they will repeat the scan and talk about our options. I think we are leaning toward a cvs because I feel like I need to know exactly what's going on. I will update when I know more. Lola thank you for your recommendation of the perinatalogist, if I don't like these people I will def give them a call.
