Every place should allow pets, with a pet deposit and/or require renters insurance. I'm so sick of looking at single family house with fenced in back yards that don't allow dogs.

I totally agree with this. I don't know what type of dog you have, but I have a pitbull which adds more depth as renters that do allow dogs usually say: no large dogs. Especially that breed. Ugh so frustrating.

I take it you never have rented your house out before.

8lb doxie! She's basically a newborn
Not a selling point, if it were my house you'd be renting.

Obviously not or I'd stay in the place where I can have my dog. But with a regular deposit, a pet deposit and renters insurance I should be able to find a place. That's like 2500 dollars in deposits.

Your (even small) dog can do more than $2500 worth of damage. Renters insurance covers your property, not the owners. My homeowner's doesn't cover damage that a pet did. And if it's a breed like a pitbull, it can invalidate my HO insurance policy.
