I got my first "try putting some rice cereal in a bottle before bed and she'll sleep much better" yesterday. OK then.

I feel like we're in between sizes on halo sleep sacks. Her feet hit the bottom in a NB size, but the swaddle part of the Small is huge and she often gets tangled in it, bringing the flaps to her face. Makes me nervous. We tried the Sleep Suit on for kicks last night and she swam in it. So we're not ready for that yet.

We're still keeping her arms in, so I'm not sure what else to use at this point.

Also - we're good from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm... then it's up every ninety minutes - two hours until about 4 or 5 am and then she is AWAKE. Ughhhh.

I've been getting this from my grandmother since two weeks. We only did it with ds1 when pedi told us to in order to help with reflux. And that was at like 3 or 4 months. I'm so effing sick of people telling me to give him rice cereal.

What about a different type of swaddle? When DD was smaller, I liked the Summer Infant Swaddleme things. Those always worked well and never went up on her face.

Do you notice that she's fighting the swaddle in the night and that's why she wakes up every 90 minutes? Do you feed her every time she wakes up in the night or what do you have to do?

Depends how long it's been since her last feed. I usually offer, but she'll usually fall asleep in my arms but goes all nuts when I put her down. I do have those Swaddlemes here, but never tried them because the sleep sacks were fine until now.

Is she sleeping flat, like in a crib? Maybe she hates that??? Sorry, just trying to troubleshoot with you. Although DD did the same thing around 3 months old too....

Ugh, people have been telling my H this, and now he thinks it's going to be some magic solution. I can't wait for our ped to shut that down at next week's appt.

We're in a similar predicament with sizes. Newborn is too short, but small is too loose. Other swaddles (Woombie and the Ergo Cocoon) haven't worked because they don't keep her arms down by her sides, so she can bring her hands up but not out, so she gets frustrated because she wants them in her mouth. Hands out and she scratches her face up and she's only at about 75% accuracy of getting her thumb into her mouth, so lots of frustrated crying.

I thought that the halo size small would be too big for my LO when we switched, but they were actually ok.  Do you swaddle super tight?  I had to put the top flap almost underneath my LO when we started, but now it fits him well.  He's a giant, though so my opinion could mean nothing, but he can't get out of that sucker for anything.

Eh... She's been in some sort of flat apparatus for night sleeping since birth. So I don't know if it's that. But when I do check on her after a wake up, the arms are up but covered by the huge swaddle and she's trying to flail around and can't. So I think it's probably the swaddle and her obsession with her hands.

Maybe we will try a swaddleme tonight. We have them... Might as well.

I think we figured out why DD has been sleeping so terribly the past week. Her eczema has flared up really badly since stopping the cortisone cream. Last night was the worst, so finally at 4am we gave up and applied the cortisone cream again in desperation. After that she finally slept for almost 3 hours. Going to the pedi today to see what we can do. She must be so itchy

Ugh, sometimes I really want to swaddle DS just to see if it will work but he's 4 months and rolls back to front all the time now and I don't want to go backwards. And every time I've tried that he gets pissed off when he can't move his arms. It does the opposite of calm him down. We've had two nights out of the sleep suit, but tonight he's going back in.

SwaddleMe was semi successful. I like that there aren't loose pieces up by her face if she moves her arms wildly. But her first MOTN wake up was actually earlier than previous nights. (10:30 pm.) From there she went until 2:30 am and woke for the day around 6 am. So - a little bit better, but I still can't get rid of that SUPER early wake up call.

Any updates? DS had a couple weeks of 2 times a night, which seemed very manageable compared to 4. And I got all comfortable and cocky and now he's up to 3 times. He hasn't been napping well at my mom and dad's (temporary daycare), not sure if that makes a difference.

With DD I got all depressed about it; this time I'm trying to just go with it. He's clearly hungry and I'm not going to deprive him of that right now.

We stopped swaddling because he rolls but damn, he scratches the hell out of his face and head. He looks terrible. No matter how short I try to clip and file his nails, they are still long and sharp enough to scratch. He gets mitts off in .2 seconds. I wish they made fold-over sleeves in bigger sizes of sleepers.

slsl509 I'm dreading the day I can't swaddle. I have no idea what I'll do to keep her from scratching.

I'm trying really hard to keep it together, but this sleep deprivation is seriously taking a toll. I'm crying all the time like I did the first few weeks PP. This is really hard.

Get some long sleeve onesies or sleepers that have the little flap on the wrist to cover their hands. Works even better than mittens and isn't a choking hazard!

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. It affects everything in your life when you are so tired. I'm not as depressed this time as with DD because I know it won't be forever even when it feels.like.forever. Hugs to you.
