Tl;Dr: I think LO is teething and now isn't sleeping. Help?
DH and I pretty sure that LO is teething. He is 3 months and 3 weeks old, which I think is young for teeth but what do I know? (FTM here) He has been chewing a little on teething rings, has a temp of around 99 degrees, keeps sticking his fingers in his mouth to chew on and there seems to be a swollen spot on his gums.
Anyway, last night my decent sleeper disappeared. LO usually goes to bed around 8:30, sleeps until around 1 am then nurses and goes right back to sleep without any fuss. He then usually sleeps till 5 am, nurses and goes right back to sleep till 7-8 o'clock. But last night he woke at 11:30, which I am not used to so I fell asleep nursing him. I woke up later, sleepily freaked out at myself for falling asleep in the glider, then put DS in his crib. He woke up fussing in five minutes. I tried give him his binky, that worked for two minutes, then he was screaming. I changed his diaper, put him back in his crib, he fussed and fussed. I tried nursing again, he fell asleep on the boob after a minute or two, but when I tried to transfer him to his crib he instantly woke and screamed.
Well fast forward to 5 am. Despite all the comforting and tricks that have always worked in the past, LO never fell asleep for longer than 30 minutes. DH tried, I tried and nothing worked. He would fall asleep in our arms, the second we would move, he would wake up. Finally I gave up and sat down in the glider and half dozed while he fitfully slept. After an hour of that I tried the crib. It worked for another hour. Then I gave up all together and brought him into my bed and we both fitfully dozed there for another couple of hours.
Today he is been not himself, crabby and fussy easily and had only slept on our walk and when we were out running errands. He usually naps in the early evening, he started getting tired and we tried to put him down, no luck. Finally, DH laid him on our bed and he is sleeping in between two pillows, which I don't really like but he is actually sleeping peacefully for the first time since yesterday.
Anyway that is a really long explanation but I guess I just wanted to vent and ask if anyone has any BTDT experience and advice to share?
