Let the record show, I have no problem with rule bending as an idea.
I have a problem when the rules only get bent for a select few out of a group and not all members have the same opportunity afforded to them.
Can you be more specific?
I think some things are black and white, but most of it is very grey and subjective. Which makes it difficult. But I'd say unless an emergency, let the 2 mods make a unanimous decision. If we're making the rules and picking our leaders, they would/should fall in line with our feelings on it, yes?
I don't need to because hey new place, new rules. Right?
I was just speaking to the comment that was made about me specifically.
I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.
I'm not comfortable having a mod who wouldn't instaban a user for personally attacking another user. And by personal attack, I mean what Brandi did. If there's a mod who will sit around and let that shit brew, then no. I'm not ok with that and will not be a part of this community.
If it is a heated debate/discussion, idgaf. But I'm not going to just let someone (reg or not) attack one of my friends, or anyone for that matter, on here.
I agree that Brandi should've been banned, but I'm not sure that an instaban is warranted in all personal attacks. Because again, 'personal attack' is super subjective.
I am just really glad that we are having this dialogue about what kind of place we want this to be. If I don't end up modding, I am glad it's a decision that is made as a community.

I will address deleting (thought not sure that's an issue here). I was an equal opportunity deleter. I am not about policing. But if someone posted something and regretted, I fully support them being able to exercise a right to have that content removed. Like we used to back in the day. I think if it's someone else's content, it should have to be against TOU. But if it's your OWN content, then you should be able to have it removed.
As for transparency, I felt that on TB we were often (as mods) put in between a rock and a hard place. We were often asked not to share full information on goings on or what was coming. Or share the details of situations or why we made decisions. That would get us demodded. I really hope that isn't an issue here because I want to be able to talk to the group about what they need to know. And as much as what goes on behind the scenes as possible.

I mean, I gave up cause it was a losing battle but I had been on TB since 2010, I don't remember threads being deleted like they have been in more recent times. So, I don't know your "back in the day."

For the first few years I posted, you had the ability to delete your own content. People would often call you on it, but you could do it.

That is not even what I am talking about.
Talking about mods deleting threads not the person but don't worry about it.

That's true... the "DD" (dirty delete). You could easily delete entire threads that you started. It was like that almost up until the format change, no?

Before last year's upgrade, any user could delete their own thread at any time.

If users can't delete their own content, can a mod per user's request? Like if I talk about a husband problem, I wouldn't mind being able to later get that off the all-eternity interwebz.

This is the situation I was talking about. And I think that should be acceptable.
I feel like that would be real names, addresses, phone numbers, and the like. No?
I agree with you. However, the all day thread about someone sending a picture of their dick via SC was supposedly deleted on this basis. I feel we all know it was deleted cause their friend asked them to but when I questioned it, I was told because "personal info."

I think you should be able to. And I think what McBenny is trying to say is that if we allow you, for instance, to delete a thread where you talk about a husband problem, we should also allow newbs that go BSC to delete their thread too.

I deleted it because Hilarity asked me too. And she was the originator of that thread.
Mcbenny is referring to mods taking it upon themselves to delete threads they don't like.
yeah this is a no-go in my book. I think the specific incident in question ("you're swell") has been hashed and re-hashed one billion times and I thought all parties have moved on.
I apologize for that incident. I hadn't been paying attention to the mod board and thought it was against TOU.
