I didn't give up the last bottle until about 13-14 months. He was in the skinnier side and wasn't Drinking as much milk as I would like. He fell asleep with it too. But one day I just quit cold turkey and he was fine. I just rocked him without it. I'm not even sure he noticed.
We dropped the bottle just shy of 14 months. The last one was the nighttime one and by that time she was barely even drinking anything from it because she was so full from the day/dinner so we just lost it. We didn't change up our routine at all. We will still offer some milk before she goes to bed but she's hit or miss on whether she wants it or not.
xanthepants - I'm so sorry. Losing a pet when they have been a fixture in your family and life for so long is extremely hard. Even when you know its time and its the best thing for him, its never easy.
sarasansh - We dropped the bottle around 12 months. At that point, we were giving him about 3 cups/bottles a day. Kayleigh still gets a cup of milk when she gets home for daycare (about an hour before dinner). He was having a fit because he saw her getting the milk and he wanted some too. So we just gave him a cup of milk then rather than later at bedtime. It never really even bothered him that his night time cup was gone. I think the first couple of nights he looked at the floor to see where it was (we used to put it next to the rocking chair while we read books, then he would have his milk). But when he saw it wasn't there, he was just fine going to bed.
Am I the only one struggling with giving gift ideas for their J12? I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but I worry I'm giving suggestions that I would want her to want, like puzzles, books, board games, science stuff, space stuff, and maybe she'd like to have some more "typical toddler girl toys" like Barbies and Little Pet Shop and stuff?

barefoot84, I usually give the kids some things they ask for and then some things I want them to have like books and games. I'm low on ideas for Aubrey and her birthday is in a week. The only thing I have is the baby alive doll that she wanted, but I think I'm going to get her a board game so we have something to do together. She's not wanting for toys so I hate to buy too many, but games and books are things we can do together besides pretend play.

So I was totally judging coming out of treatment today. There was a lady there that I believe had a white blood cell count that was too low to get her chemo today, I didn't hear all the conversation because I was in and out of sleep. We ended up pulling out of the parking lot at the same time and her and the person who drove her were both smoking a cigarette! I mean whats the point of getting chemo if you are still smoking? I'm not sure what type of cancer she has but still, why even go through that if you are just going to kill yourself with a cigarette. It's her body but for some reason I am super angry about the whole thing.
somethingcleverer that is beyond stupid. Smoking is a carcinogen for so many types of cancer not just lung cancer.
I have a question for you ladies. I have a doctors appt on Monday for this pregnancy so they will do a pelvic and interior u/s. I have to take Patrick with me. I tried to schedule when he had school but I can't. Do you take him in the room? Ask him to sit outside on the floor while they do it? Just stay where he can't see anything? Will he remember any of this? I don't want to scar him for life. I'm going to try to get H to stay home but I doubt that will be possible. Hopefully the rest of them I can schedule better.

tribute17 I would just let him stay in the room. I don't think you will be scarring him for life and you'll be mostly covered. Have him hold your hand or stay by your head so he doesn't see too much!

Dagny loves Barbie & Littilest Pet Shop stuff
We don't have any, so I don't know if she'd play with them. I know it's important but I hate that type of pretend play, I never know what to do with my doll or cat or whatever. Puzzle, board games and books are so much easier for me. I talked to her about it and she asked for a mermaid doll.

Dagny actually does a ton of pretend play with her dolls/stuffed animals/figurines. She acts out stories with them a lot. I rarely have to play with her when she's playing with them other than to help change clothes.

I brought Dagny & just brought her a book or iPad. She didn't ask too many questions.

I just went with what I knew she enjoyed. She loves baseball so I got her a t ball set. She was thrilled.
Did anyone else's kid refuse to roll over? Maggie knows how to and used to do it all the time. She started belly sleeping around 7 months. Now she refuses to roll--if we put her down on her back she cries until we flip her, and in the mornings she stays on her belly until we pick her up.

Yes, Andrew did this as well. There was a while where he was rolling constantly. Then all of a sudden he just stopped doing it and wanted us to "help" him. Eventually, he just started doing it on his own again. We did a lot of praising him when he did it on his own and we started stepping away from helping him. I'm not sure if that's the best method, but oh well.

tribute17, I would also bring a toy, ipad, or something else that you know will distract him so he doesn't get bored. I would also call your doctor's office to make sure it's okay to bring him to the u/s. I know some offices don't allow kids in the room at all. GL!
