Went backstage a couple years ago after a show on Broadway to meet James Earl Jones. He's friends with my mom's boss so we went to his dressing room and took pics and chatted. On our way back to his room we saw some other actors from the show- Eric McCormack (Will from Will & Grace), Candace Bergen, and Michael McKean. During the show I walked past Uncle Jesse during intermission. He was in the audience. I may have been most excited about that haha.
I'm in the audience on an episode of The View and Dr. Oz lol. Really fun experiences.. Except I had REALLY bad cramps during the Dr. Oz taping so I didn't enjoy that one quite as much as The View.
I'm so jealous! James Earl Jones?! Hands down one of my favorite actors. Field of Dreams, The Sandlot, Coming to America, and let's not forgot that everyone and their mother has said the words "Luke I am your father" into a fan at some point in their life.
He doesn't disappoint! Just a really nice guy. His son (his assistant) was super nice too. Good people

I figured he had to be super nice. He just seems like that kinda guy. Kinda grandfatherly-like.

calvinfoster Those pictures are beautiful!!! That's you in the top one? You are seriously gorgeous. Not surprised at all that they stole your pictures.
Miss Killjoy Have you ever met *gulp* Nathan Fillion??? I mean, I assume you would have said so if you had. But I would be soooo excited to meet him. I would probably be equally excited to meet Joss Whedon.
I have no cool moments. Tom Hanks' brother teaches at a school near me so he occasionally is in town and I always kinda hope I'll sight him somewhere. Also Dave Franco and the guy who played McLovin in Superbad were at a screening of Neighbors at my movie theater. I was off that day though and wasn't all that interested in meeting them anyway. Also Roger Ebert was from here and his film festival runs every year and that brings a lot of smaller celebrities to town. I'm normally working during that though. Lol. So plenty of opportunities to meet people, but no drive apparently.
Miss Killjoy so jealous of Norman Reedus...pic? We went a few weekends ago but he wasn't there. DH got a pic w beth (I forgot her name and he was mesmerized lol)
Closest to 15 minutes of fame...I once was in a local TV channel commercial advertising the opening of a new vet clinic where I was working. Two scenes actually-carrying a snake to an exam room, and restraining a dog as a vet drew blood.
In my field, well, more like thanks to the location where I currently work, I do tend to meet famous people every now and then. My favorite story to share was having a 10 minute conversation with a very nice woman about the horses/stable I was working for and later finding out it was Glenn Close. My H likes to tell people about the time I "scolded" Martha Stewart for parking on the grass.

I have spent all but one year of my life in LA or NYC, so I have a lot of random encounters including having Mena Suvari (sic?, also we are working on an American Pie bingo card) ask me if she knew me from somewhere, randomly having dinner with Topher Grace at a diner on Sunset Blvd and learning he was childhood friends with my then boyfriend, working out at the gym with Queen Latifah, Regis Philbin and Carmen Electra-- not all at the same time. In college I got to chat with Harry Shearer who offered me an internship on the Simpsons, which sadly never panned out. More recently, I was hit on at a bar by the guy who plays Raj on Big Bang Theory, while going from the bar to rejoin my group of friends and (though I was not single, I'm a huge fan of the show so I lingered a few minutes to chat with him and the actors who play Leonard and Howard. Sadly, Sheldon wasn't there. Oh, almost forgot that my cousin is married to the executive producer of 24 and Homeland.
On a White House tour in middle school socks the 1st cat dashed between my legs while running from secret service agents and I met Dan Quayle, while VP, at a restaurant after his secret service agents crashed into my dad's car. Our whole family was at the restaurant but only my cousin and I were deemed low enough risk to meet the VP at his table in the back room.
However, my most treasured memory by far is that in my mid-20s, I happened to be in front of Paul Kariya at a security line at LAX. He was my idol in my teens, I was certain I would marry him. (Since I presume 99% of you have no idea who he is, he was an incredibly talented NHL player). I was only 75% sure it was him but he was carrying a NHLPA bag so I decided to ask once we got through security. Surely enough it was him and he was extremely cool about me gushing that I was in love with him for most of the 90s and he even walked me to my gate. ?
This post brought to you by the letters A and W and about a dozen chores I won't get done today.
We can totally be friends but I should warn you that I'm not at all cool, I'm just cool proximate. I am, however, extremely talented at Jeopardy.
I love me some Jeopardy! Best friends foreva?!
Insta-BFF, when life is less crazy I can share the jeopardy party drinking game I invented in law school.
Also on the topic of coolness by proximity, I just remembered that I tutored Michelle Kwan in math when we were both living at the figure skating training center.
I miss Mister Rogers. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (supposedly the replacement) is nowhere near as good.
Daniel Tiger is useful for toddlers, got DS1 to eat new foods and stop playing to use the potty. Our four year old did point out that Daniel gets on the trolley at his house and gets off at his house during the intro. And the cat seems to have Tourette's, meow meow.

I want in. I have seriously considered getting cable just for Jeopardy. And 2jelplus1, I was just thinking of you yesterday. I hope things are starting to get easier with your LO!

Thanks for thinking of us mgk207. I was somewhat absentee around here in May in part because we managed a predominantly relaxing trip to Hawaii and in part because LO is still having a lot of pain and discomfort. She eats 25-28oz most days but generally in 2oz chunks or less and there is often a lot of struggling involved. In a last ditch effort to feel like I did everything I could before weaning her to formula, I started a crazy elimination diet a week ago and it may actually be helping. She ate upwards of 3oz 4x today and her disposition has mostly been happier for the past week, though I think we have some interference from the teething monster. Continued prayers are appreciated but also we are grateful that she's managed to gain almost a lb a month so we avoided the nightmare of failure to thrive.
ETA, even when I didn't have time to participate I periodically would read the funnies thread while holding LO upright which brought joy into otherwise long days! Also, sorry for the thread hijack here!
A few months ago when the company I worked for closed down I ended up being on the news. I was talking to the security guard trying to gain access to the parking lot so That I could go to the goodbye meeting (the security guard was checking my ID against the list of employees ) and of course that's what got on tape. You can't tell it's me k. The video as I'm still in my car, but my mom recognized my car.
DH has been invited to audition for jeopardy twice, but has not received a callback. Many people who have been in the show say they auditioned multiple times, so we are holding out hope he will make it on someday.

I went on a high school class trip to Washington DC and we did a White House tour. While we were in the main hallway area, the Clintons' cat Socks came to say hi to us. A Secret Service agent picked him up and let us pet him before they went upstairs to the residence area.
My husband used to be fairly well-known among early Internet users because of some software he wrote (in the 1990s), but it's really obscure now.
I've been on the same plane as Wesley Clark on 3 separate occasions.
I suck at it too but I love it. I watch it faithfully. According to my DH I'm good at Wheel Of Fortune because I'm always yelling at the contestants, "why can't you figure it out you morons!"
One time I was on the local news for a mock drill that they had at the hospital I was work at. I think I was taking a blood pressure or something! I went to a autograph signing and got to meet Da Brat (I don't she is even around anymore!!) once. My uncle does a lot of restoring of woodwork/furniture for wealthy people. He restored a piece of furniture for Kirby Puckett (baseball player). I have also got to tour a lot of huge houses in Minneapolis.
Jealous of everyone who has met famous people!!
Awww Kirby Puckett.. He was an awesome guy. Met him when I worked at the MOA Sports Bar. He did his 8 ball tournament and fan meet and greet there. He stuck around for an additional 3 hours so everyone who waited in line could get a picture and autograph. A true gentleman. Alot of other sport celebrities that were there didn't.

That is so cool you met Kirby Puckett! I always liked Kirby, he was one of the best baseball players. Too bad his career was cut short and he passed away at such a young age.

Lol, did you see my Socks story? Either that cat was out of control or they used him to garner good will with elementary school children.

Seriously nicest sports guy I ever met. Personally came around to all bar employees, shook our hands and apologized for holding up the bar opening so he could meet each fan. He was a class act.
Oh yeah. I ran track and partied in highschool with hank baskett. Him and Kendra come here a lot. He's still really nice.
He always seemed nice on their show. The whole cheating with a transvestite thing really threw me for a loop. I wonder if it was more for ratings vs. actually happened.

I'm almost positive it was for ratings, but who knows ! I can't imagine ruining my reputation for any amount of money. Especially being where we are are from, just strange.
