how did this happen? Silicon Valley, in California, is where a lot of new tech is developed. Birth place of many start-ups, and Google's HQ.
Pretty sure they're talking about the show! Which, ftr, I only vaguely recall hearing about before this board. Seems like I should add it to my list of shows to watch!
Eta: obviously need to finish reading the thread before posting ;-)
I can't stand when people tell me, "oh, just you wait..." Just because YOU found it difficult when your baby started developmentally progressing doesn't mean I will. Or, to make it relevant here: Yeah, I might have morning sickness again. And when I do, I will be happy to have it because it means I'm pregnant. Don't tell me to wait until it sucks--take your negativity and fuck off.
i see the irony in that last statement, but don't let people feed you that shit, especially you FTMs. The number of pregnancies or kiddos one has does not indicate their ability to parent, nor does it say anything about how YOUR experience will be compared to theirs.
I mostly agree with this, except for when someone is being judgey about something they haven't yet experienced. Such as "I will never put my child on a leash" or "I will never let my child cry it out". Wait until you have a runner in a crowded area or you haven't slept in 84 years, then make that judgement. If you still feel the same way, cool. But don't judge until you know what it's like.
FFFC I'm all for cosleeping, however if I wasn't the light sleeper that I was I would not do it. Plus I've had practice because I'm weird and already bed share with my dog.

Ummm.... I have my Crazy Dog Lady badge firmly affixed to my shirt, but I think this is one of the (many) times that a dog vs. baby comparison is way off base. That's not the same thing - not even close.

I have an Italian Greyhound who was all but maybe 3lb. when I got her 3 years ago. I started the awful habit of having her sleep right next to me under the covers. So while yes it's an unusual comparison had I not been the light sleeper I could have just as easily rolled over on her just like one might a baby.
My baby will have its own bed. In its own room. I believe it's important to keep the bedroom a place for me and H to have our own quiet time.
Eta I don't agree with cosleeping but I don't judge those who do it. It's just not for me and my family.
+1
Also, it annoys me when people let their children sleep in their bed, but then complain and wonder why they can't get them to sleep in their crib. I'm all fine if you choose to co sleep, but don't complain if you aren't keeping consistency.

I also don't judge co-sleeping bed-sharing because sometimes you just need to do it.
however, it's also not for us because 1) I get too scared and don't sleep well, and 2) if the baby sleeps in our bed, when do we ever get to have sex, planned or otherwise, in our own bed??? How does that work for co-sleeping bed sharing parents?
That said, we moved my daughter out of our room and into her crib at 3 months old, and sleep trained her (modified Ferber) at 4.5 months and it's been awesome ever since. She sleeps like a champ and still loves us.
eta: yeah...i wasn't using the right terms, duh. 0/2 in this thread so far.
I'm actually really glad this discussion happened because I never understood co-sleeping as I assumed it meant bed-sharing. Learning new things every day

We coslept and bedshared a bit until DS was 10 months old and got too squirmy. He's always been a terrible sleeper, so it was the way for us all to stay sane.
Now he sleeps on a floor mattress in his room and I still join him if he's having a particularly rough night.
