Yes and no... basically no. I feel that she is behind in some stuff which makes me worried. Her 6mo appointment is the 1st and I plan to ask. She also only rolls back to tummy. Since I'm elderly and so is dh I of course worry about developmental disorders now she is here. We will see.

My little guy can't quite sit up on his own yet. Yesterday he was able to sit up against the boppy a few minutes. He still likes to tip forward too! Also will be 6 months on Monday.
Babygirl can stay sitting for a couple min when I put her in the position just this past week pretty much as soon as she turned 6mo a switch flipped. She's also doing baby crunches when laying. Rolls back to belly like a champ but does the superman when she gets to her belly and doesn't roll back. I'm not worried. Immobility means no chasing baby and wiping dog hair off her.

American guidelines and questions asked by pediatricians honestly make me feel like they're just going to stress parents out. All my American friends were asked about tummy time, rolling, holding their head up, etc. at four months like they needed to be doing all that.
Here, all my doctor (not even pediatrician - you usually only get a pedi if your baby has some unique need) wants to see by SIX months is rolling from back to SIDE, not even the whole way.
I honestly wouldn't feel like your baby is behind. Milestones like rolling, sitting, crawling, walking, and talking have a huge range of "normal". Some babies never crawl. Some never roll before they crawl. Some talk late. Some do it all super early.
In many cases, developmental disorders are obvious in other ways too. Floppy babies would be worrisome at this point - as in can't hold their head up, can't support any weight at all on their arms or legs, no neck control, etc. Not sitting? Not really an issue at this age.
Thanks, I know she isn't far behind if she IS behind. Ever since dh and I got prego (he is currently 43 and I'm 34) I've worried about developmental issues. I see everyone's kid doing xyz and I think she should be too. I try not to compare but c'mon it's human nature lol. She may walk before she sits however, that's her current thing.

She's 5.5 months and just in the past week or two started being able to tripod sit or sit unassisted for a minute or two. And she seemed to go from zero core strength to being able to do it overnight. My boys were ahead of the curve with gross motor development and were tripod sitting at 4 months, but every kid is unique and they were built much differently (aka huge) which probably helped their center of gravity.
Yes. LO is super strong and likes to stand assisted and is somehow launching himself forward to try to stand on his own. He's been sitting up unassisted since 4 months and now at 6 he can do it for a long time. I occasionally here a crash when he's launched backwards though hah. He does not roll over though. He seems really lazy in those regards.

The comparison thing is so hard! I catch myself doing it with the twins sometimes. For example DD loves to stand when you hold her up and DS wants nothing to do with and prefers to sit. Watching my two really has shown me there is a huge range of normal and every baby develops at their own pace.
I voted yes, but huge caveat- they are 7 months old and have only been doing it somewhat well for a couple weeks. At 6 months old they were no where near. For those that are worrying, don't. Younger than six months is early and it will just suddenly click one day.
Yes. She has always been a strong sitter though. Still can't figure out how to get that paci in her mouth though. She turns 6 months on the 20th and has been working on it since the end of May. She hardly ever falls now
ours isn't able to but i was wondering if he would be developmentally delayed. i had asked the doctor at his 6 month appointment (may 26) and she said yes could be since he was born @ 34 weeks but she would still like to see him doing what she called the tripod where he held his self up by putting his hands on the ground in a sitting position...he's still not. That being said not worried at all our other two was born @ 34 and 35 weeks they both lagged in their developmental stages but once they hit school they took off, every kiddo is at there own pace.
He does. He's never been much of a cuddler so he's always been practicing that head and neck control- he's mr. Nosey Here he is showing off his letter eating skills and sitting up game

Agree. One day he couldn't and the next he was awesome at it.
Yes, LO is sitting on his own. He cant pull himself up to a sitting position yet but can chill for a while if I sit him up. It's difficult not to compare but all babies are different. LO was born on 12/3 and actually has been for real crawling and pulls himself up to standing position. This has been going on for a couple weeks now. And one day he couldn't do any of this and then the next day he was a pro at it.

LO is working on sitting. He's one of the youngest babies of D14 (a week past his due date, born Jan 1). He was motivated to inch worm wiggle to get to one of DS1's toys.
DD has been sitting assisted for a long time (she's 6.5 months- she was born early) and just last night sat for the first extended period of time by herself. Most of the time she face plants after a few minutes.
Ok dumb question but we are talking sitting up straight correct. My son sits for a few but is supported by his arms and leaning forward so I say no. It will probably be a while before he sits up straight. He really dont understand what to do yet, I think.

She's starting to sit up unassisted for longer periods of time but I still need to put pillows around her because she eventually falls backwards she's 5.5 months
She kind of does. If I sit her in a certain position, she kind of slumps forward but doesn't topple over. She can sit up very well with a little assistance though. She will be six months in 2 days.
I think comparing babies can be a good thing, but it can also drive you crazy. It's good to see what other babies are doing to know if your child is heading in the right direction, but it can also drive you crazy! My friend's little girl did everything WAY earlier than DS and I thought he was behind. Turns out, he was right on track and her baby was ahead. After around 2, they seemed to level out.
Our guy is 6 months + 1 week and is not yet sitting up. If I put him in a tripod pose he can hold it for a bit, and he's starting to try to lift one arm up...but then he topples over. He makes absolutely no moves to get into a sitting position on his own. We practice a lot though and he definitely is getting better (or at least more interested). At our pedi appt last week the doc kind of frustrated me when I said he couldn't yet sit. She was like "I bet he can...I'll show you how" and I was like um, ok lady, I live with the kid, I think I would know... and sure enough, she tried to get him to hold it and was like "yeah, you're right, he's not sitting yet." She wasn't worried, just said keep giving him opportunities to work at it and he should get it over the next few months. He does roll everywhere though. I think I posted in another thread about how a friend of ours with a similar age baby (3 weeks older) sits well but hardly rolls at all. So all kids are different!
LO started sitting a while ago, as long as toys were in front of him for support, and begun sitting unassisted for a length of time a month ago, at almost 5.5 months. He pushes up to a sit while rolling around, not sure when that started! And just figured out how to use his stomach muscles to sit from laying on his back.
He has also begun to pull up to a stand in the last week, and started trying to climb out if crib and PnP so we've lowered the mattresses in both. He shows no interest in crawling. I feel like he'll figure out how to take a couple steps and then be running everywhere and never crawl!
