I get "Oh you have one of each, how perfect, you're done now!"
Umm... Maybe we want more kids? We knew from the start that we had an elevated risk of twins. I told DH when we were just dating that I wanted 2 PREGNANCIES. Fully aware we might end up with 2-4 children.
I had to take one of my daughters to the bathroom in a restaurant (she gagged on a piece of French fry and puked). As I'm leaving the bathroom, a lady comes up and goes "aww, who's this little guy?" (Yes, my daughter is in blue. A blue Frozen shirt with Elsa on it and a sparkly cape.) I must have switched to bitch face because she immediately added "or whoever this is."
Yes, lady, I was totally carrying a sexless alien being or something.

I had my first really strange comment. I'm a nurse at a jail and when we do pill call we push medicine carts to the floor and an officer accompanies us. It came up that I was pregnant with twins and the officer immediately insists on pushing my cart the rest of the night.
I tell him that I can manage, that I'm not on any restrictions. Then he says "No I want to. I'm very superstitious and maybe if I touch your cart my wife will be next. I would love to have twins!"
I just love it when people say "I'd hate to have twins" or "Oh twins would be my worst nightmare" any time they find out I'm having twins.
Like, thanks.
I get this all the time when people find out that it is triplets, unless they are in the medical field and then they are just excited to be dealing with the rainbow unicorn I appear to be to them. Though seriously I can't count the times I have heard, "I am so happy for you, but I am so glad it isn't me because that is my nightmare."

DD2 is 5lb bigger than DD1 so I've been getting a lot more "How far apart are they?" Which seems to subtly ask twins or not I guess, because they definitely don't look 9 months apart lmao.
Today someone was like, "Awww, the little one is sad! They are so cute." DD1 was pouting, but yeah- the difference in size is growing and growing.

Someone I work with asked if we were having one of each. I told her we were expecting two boys. She said she was sorry to hear that and asked me if I thought we'd try again.
Um...nope. Gonna plan to have these two and love them to pieces.

crazyaunt84, comments like that drive me nuts! I have a boy and a girl already and people are always commenting on my 'perfect family'. I just say every family is the perfect family!
I love watching little boys play together (all the rough and tumbling and just pure energy they exude).. you are going to have so much fun with your boys!
From a supervisor at work (who is generally friendly) when I told him we're expecting a second set of twins: "Why would you want another [set of twins] when you already have one [set of twins]?"

Ha well I personally love that you're having another set of twins. I said to H last night, "Look! She not only survived twins but actually enjoyed it enough to have another set! We can totally do this!"

Glad to be an inspiration That is the first really positive comment I've gotten. So far the best has been "congratulations" or "how exciting" and it always seems like there's an undercurrent that we're a little crazy.
ETA: I intended to refer to people's reactions IRL. TCF has been more supportive (as usual).

Well I mean you're obviously a little crazy. But I applaud your efficiency in expanding your family
You guys are awesome. I'm so excited for you, and if we had the financial ability I'd try for another set too!
Oh today was a doozy. Wearing my almost 9m olds at Target, I had a very nice older gentleman stop me and say, "Oh my, you are truly blessed!"
Which made the next one even more baffling. Cashier says to me, "You aren't planning on any more, are you? Because your husband will find someone else to play with."

schmella that is rude and I can't believe someone would say that!
I can't get over how no matter where we go we have people practically yelling "Twins?!" We were walking around our neighborhood with the stroller and had a random car stop and ask if they were twins. I'm always half tempted to say something sarcastic like "Nope, we stole this one" or "No they are actually triplets but we left one at home".

We have actually had to say the last quote before...

My MIL has decided that our babies are "natural twins" (or she even said "real twins" once) and neither of them came from the embryo we transferred. For some reason this seems to make her happy.

Wtf? My mom told me she calls the girls her sci-fy babies when I was pregnant. I think she was just very unaware about IVF. She hasn't made that comment since than even without me having said anything.

Oh man, I would not be able to bite my tongue on that one.

I would not be responsible for whatever my fist would do.
