Hi guys! I'm new here and saw this so I thought it would be a good start to introducing myself Long time member of the F15 board (one of the ex-bumpies). A few days shy of 37 weeks pregnant with my 2nd boy. 1st boy will be 5 at the end of April. Been looking for a secular mom board for a while and really excited I finally found one
1. Are you out?
Mostly. I've only been an Atheist for a little under 2 years now and I love it, but it's more of a don't ask/don't tell thing with most of my family. My parents are active, non-asshole Christians and unless they ask I'm not gonna volunteer it. Hubby is completely out and much braver than I am (he's the one that opened up my eyes shortly after our wedding). Slowly but surely I'm working my way out, though!
2. If so what's the weirdest thing someone had said when you told them? If not, why?
I haven't gotten very much feedback since I haven't come out to a ton of people I know personally, but I did have a woman ask me if it felt good knowing I was damning my children after I told her I'd appreciate her not angrily insisting my current pregnancy was a "gift from God and not simply me being lucky".
3. Do you do christmas, ramadan, hannukah or other "religious" winter holidays?
We do but we don't participate in any prayers, church or anything like that. My family also isn't preachy so it's pretty easy to get by without the story of Jesus coming up.
4. What about easter (or other spring religious holidays?
Same as the stuff with Christmas.
