GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant?

On the radio this morning they had Carrie Underwood on and asked her about how she found out she was Pregnant. She said they had just gotten back from Haiti and went to the Doctor where they told her. She said she got nervous because here she had taken all these vaccinations, Malaria & Tyhpoid medications etc, but that they heard the heart beat when they found out so that eased her nerves.

Which got me thinking, how did you find out you were pregnant? (Could be a previous pregnancy!)

Nothing too exciting, I couldn't shake the feeling that I might be so I took a test and sure enough, I was. I was however completely stunned - it took 14 cycles of TTC to conceive my DD, and this time I got pregnant on our first cycle trying.

Ahhh... I was POAS addict and testing everyday since we were trying.... and one day, there was 2 lines!

First time - 6 cycles/12 months TTC. I finally decided not to test before AF was late and waited. I got a +!
Second time - 2nd cycle not trying but not avoiding (and third cycle PP). Again, waited to test until AF was late and got a +. Shocking!

So I found out with a home pregnancy test from the dollar store, both times. And I am convinced that distracting myself, not testing early etc helped me to be more relaxed about the whole process, but probably that's just in my mind!

I got off of birth-control because my hormones were out of wack like a year before. Since then I take a monthly pregnancy test. I went to the store got one a usual went to the bathroom at work and it was positive. I was in such shock that I texted DH and said "I don't know if to laugh or cry". And he replied, "you're pregnant?" I have no clue how he knew he tells me he just "knows".

I was over a week late and started testing 1 or 2 days after my period was due. It was the first month I started using wofondos and I was dipping the wrong end for a few days Once I figured out how to use the stick properly I got my BFP right away.

With DD, I had flu like symptoms for a week (but no fever), and then the day of my expected period, I had cramping, but it never came... I knew then, and just took a test to confirm. I was 4 weeks along.

With DS (current pregnancy), I hadn't even missed my period yet, but I took a test on a whim, and was very surprised when it came back positive... I was only about 4 weeks then too.

I was temping, and TCYOF say 18 days of high temps means pregnancy. Around 10-11dpo, I was having ridiculous hot flashes and I was officially at CD 35! My sis told me to take a test on 12dpo and the fucker was positive before I finished peeing on it! 

Edit to add that we had only tried for 2 cycles...(I don't usually like saying that because I don't want people to think I'm being "braggy". We couldn't believe how fast it happened!)

We were on month 8 of TFAS, and I start to POAS at 9 dpo, because I am a glutton for punishment. I thought for sure we were out for the month. My mother's intuition really does suck!

The weekend before my period was due I had the worst tummy problems, it was just 5 days of diarrhea (sorry tmi) and my dog wouldn't leave my side. Then 3 days after my period was due, I just felt different, no period symptoms at all so I went and took a test.
It's funny when ever anything happens on my life I will get diarrhea so of course why would I be surprised that it happens when I become pregs

We were TTC so I took a test 11 days DPO and got a faint positive then another test 14 DPO and had a very clear positive. This was our first time trying after we were given clearance from Dr's due to previous loss.

We were charting and TTC and I tested at 9 DPO because I was feeling impatient. I got a super dark line and feared I was going to have triplets or something!

With DD we were also charting and TTC. But I somehow managed to wait the whole 2 weeks and test the day my period was scheduled.

My boyfriend's sister announced her pregnancy to the family and all of a sudden I had this gut feeling that maybe that's why my boobs have been so sore. I took a test and it came back positive.

It took us over 18 months with DD and fertility treatments etc, and we met with Dr here as we had moved, who said lets give it 4 months on our own then determine plan. I went off the pill and we had not even really started trying (tracking temps etc) and we were leaving on vacation for FL on a Saturday, I was packing and thinking hmmm I should take tampons, then was thinking it had been a while since I had my period. I told DH who was like you are pregnant, I said NO WAY, impossible lol. Sure enough went and got a test and pregnant popped up, first month off the pill!

Well, we were TTC. It was my third cycle off of BCP - Cycle 1 was ridiculous and 60 days long, Cycles 2 and 3 were long too (37ish days), which my best friend helped me remember was my normal cycle length from before the pill; it was also my fist cycle temping, but Fertility Friend couldn't figure out my O date for the life of itself! So I decided to pee on a stick once a week, starting on FF's "14DPO." First was negative. Next week's was a faint positive. Three days later I peed on the last one in a box and it was a hugely obvious immediately appearing positive. Also, my boobs ached weirdly for a few days leading up to the first positive.

We were on month 8 of TTC and had great timing on a total fluke. We were camping, and I was not doing any internal checks, not temping, etc. Got home just in time to catch a low temp, then ovulation. At 11 dpo, we had a wedding to go to of some of my high school friends that we still hang out with now -- was promising to be a shitshow! I was going to get hammered, but instead got to do a 5 am happy dance in the washroom. Much prefer it this way!

ETA I was also in the "can't believe it" camp. The one I had taken was from the dollar store and super faint, so I took A FRER, and that was positive. So of course I had to take another dollar store one, but it still couldn't be true, so I drove myself crazy until the store opened at 7. I was the first one in there, grabbed a digital and took it home. So it was more of a 7 am happy dance. The things we do to ourselves...

We were TTC and on our fourth month. I'd finally given in to the thought that it would take at least 6 months and were on our honeymoon when I was due for my period. I didn't get the normal spotting I always got starting about a week before I was due and I definitely felt off. Sure enough as soon as we walked in the door I took a test and it was positive!

With DD1, we were trying so when I felt like I was going to get my period and then it didn't come, tested and positive.  With DD2, I just felt pregnant, tested for a week before BFP.  With this one, I had spotting on the day I was supposed to ovulate and was like 'seriously, oh shit', left my stepdaughter at home with the girls and ran to the store for a test.  BFP immediately.

I charted religiously, so I could see the implantation dip (what looked like it) and my temps were getting higher and higher. That right there pretty much told me I was before I even tested. Besides that, my nips were super sore, and that only happens when I'm pregnant.

We were TTC so I took a test at 10 dpo. I had to take a picture of it because I knew I would question whether there really were 2 lines later. I took a test everyday for a week to really believe it! I still have all 8 tests and pictures of them on my phone.

I was visiting my dad up north for a few days. My period was late so I snuck out to the drug store and bought a test. Couldn't believe it was positive. Texted DH right away.
I felt like a teenager hiding the test from my dad for the rest of the week.

We had been trying for about 4 months and each month I was at least a week late with neg HPT's. We had decided to take a break starting in August and I was just getting ready to start the Omni diet (very very low calorie intake) and was a couple days late. I decided to test just in case and got a pos pee stick.

My story is kinda boring. DH and I were trying, we had "come on over for fun" picnic for family and friends at our house where we set up games and a blow up water slide for the kiddos that came etc.

After it ended both of our oarents hung around awkwardly...I think they thought we had something to share, but to our knowledge we didn't. Finally they left! And I said to DH, oh I know I'm supposed to wait for FMU but I have to pee now and we have three tests....so I'm totally gonna go try one for fun, to which he replied knock your socks off!

Holy shit, that stick turned so fast I hadn't even flushed yet. I was so excited, I had this onsie that I bought and hid under the sink, hoping for such occasion. I ran into the bedroom to show DH waving the stick and the onsies like a victory flag. 20 min later it sunk in to both of us that we were now responsible for life, oh shit... Can we really do this!!! Omg can we?? Wtf did we do??? But we are still elated 6 months later!

We were getting ready to go out of town for a birthday party for DH's grandfather. My periods always come like clock work, give or take a day or two on some occasions. Well, I was only a day late, but my boobs were sore in a different way than they usually were before my period and I just felt different in general. I knew I'd be stressing the whole time we were away wondering if I was going to get my period, or if I was pregnant. So, I took a test and the entire time I was on the toilet peeing on the stick, DH hovered over me...give a girl some space! Anyway, it instantly turned two pink lines and I started crying I was in such shock. We had stopped using protection a few weeks before and were planning to start actively trying the following month, but it happened so quickly.

We had been trying for 7 months..I had given up! I was over it ... I had taken so many tests, been late on my period by days and still wasn't pregnant...
ANYWAYS so one morning I was laying in bed and realized i was a day late for my period. I didn't have high expectations because like I said I kept getting negatives for months.and than. BAM positive...I literally laid on the bathroom floor for 45 minutes bawling my eyes out! That was the happiest moment of my life.

Slightly envious of all of you and your "normal" stories. After 3 years of TTC and lots of help from doctors, I knew when my beta was supposed to be, but DH and I are not all that patient and tested 2 days before beta...because why not. I got two lines, but didn't believe it. I kept testing until beta and the line got darker. Betas 1 and 2 confirmed, but I still didn't believe this was "it" until around 10 weeks and multiple ultrasounds. I don't think I allowed myself to get excited until the NT scan. Now...we can't wait!!

We were TTC. I had a period on July 26, so we decided that we would begin trying in August. After charting my cycles on mymonthlycycles, my estimated ovulation was August 9. We had sex almost everyday that week. My boobs started feeling tender, I was feeling motion sick for a few days, and I just knew. I took the test on August 16, and it was positive! I'm pretty sure we got pregnant our first day of trying- it's a great story that DH loves to tell everyone- fatest sperm in the state, he says!

I just felt a little different. It was our first month of really trying and I honestly thought it was going to take a little while. I just had one of those feelings that I may be pregnant but it was too early to test. Every little symptom I had I was Googling. (Yes, I was one of those people...at least I wasn't on TB asking ) DH and I bought some tests and we were waiting a few days before my period. One day after he left for work I was anxious and took one and there was the faintest line. I actually thought my eyes were deceiving me because of a little plastic strip on the back made it look like maybe it was a shadow and not a line. So, I busted out a digital test expecting it to say I wasn't pregnant. I was shocked when it said I was! Then I had to keep a straight face when I visited him for lunch. He could tell I was "off". When he came home, I surprised him. I had previously bought a onesie that said "I Love Daddy" that I wrapped up. He was a little sad that I didn't wait for him to test but he was also excited.

I peed on about 10 of those dollar store tests. The first one the line was sooo faint. I couldn't even surprise DH. He knew I was testing and when I called him downstairs he was like "what? You're pregnant?" So much for an elaborate reveal!

We had been TTC since we got married in May 2013 and I was not someone who tested unless I was 2 days late since my cycles were sooo regular. 13 cycles, an HSG (blocked left tube), and SA later, I was driving home from 1 of my sporadic days at the office and I could barely stay awake. As soon as I got home I fell asleep on the couch and DH had to go get the kids from the bus. I wasnt late so didnt test but had a feeling something was up. I waited till that saturday and tested with my BFF on the phone. I then ran to the garage and gave DH a high five and showed him the test.
