I don't have a paci lover or a thumb sucker, but I have a blankie lover. His blankies are his comfort.
Our guy is really starting to show interest in wanting a blankie (he keeps trying to snuggle with his burp cloths!). The 6 month sheet from the pedi said it's OK to go ahead and introduce a "lovie" / security item at this age (blankie, teddy, etc.).
oh I will have to think about letting DS have a lovie. He likes to play with his sleep sack so I think he would like a lovie.
LO is cutting his first 2 teeth, and my H has been at work since 6AM and won't be home until midnight. I'm officially ridiculously touched out and fresh outta sanity.

hugs. I call those kind of days "earning my mothers day gifts" days.
bunattack he's just fussy and clingy. It's been a long day wake up to bed time without seeing another grown up lol
Ugh, days like that are rough. I've found that getting out of the house, to a store or park or anywhere, really helps everybody's mood. I get to see other adults and LO gets distracted checking everything out and forgets that she's fussy.
This was my day! LO was so fussy I didn't know what else to do. I put him in the car and we spent an hour and a half at Buy Buy Baby. It worked! Not a peep out of him and he seemed to enjoy himself.

Hope the weekend's been better. No teeth yet here but thinking growth spurt. He is eating and napping in my lap all day.
There's no AW thread on the public page, so I'm doing it here.
I got a Spider-Man outfit for LO for Father's Day. I was skeptical when I ordered it, but man it is cute. Why don't they make more baby clothes with hoods? They're adorable!
PDQ, I'll delete them later. *poof*
Awww, dang it, the pic is gone! I always miss the good stuff
Is anyone planning on taking their LO to see fireworks? We've gone every year until now but I'm thinking of skipping this year since they won't start until several hours after her bedtime and she gets scared/upset easily when she's tired.
Nope. Kid goes to bed around 7 I think fireworks here are 9:30 or so. I am just hoping he doesn't wake up.

We're going to my family's farm in MD for an annual massive picnic/bbq. They usually start the fireworks at dusk. I'll call it at the line whether we have lo with us or put him down at my mom's. They'll probably wake him up anyway, so we may just let him watch, then immediately load him in the car for the hour and a half drive home. I'm sure we're in for it either way!
My sympathies for those dealing with teething. LO just popped out #s 7 and 8. I'm desperately hoping for a break now. Good god kid. He does seem happier than he's been for a month or so. I missed my little chipper monkey.

We're going to a bbq during the day at the in-laws but staying home at night. We've taken LO to fireworks night at baseball games and she did ok with the earmuffs for protection. However, she hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Mini KJ still doesn't even have ONE tooth and your kid has eight?! Crazy!
I know, it's completely ridiculous. The first two (lower incisors) were relatively early, but not crazy early. Then a few weeks later the upper central incisors started. No sooner had they broken through than the upper lateral incisors started. Then boom, the upper canines! (wtf)
The uppers all came in over a 3-4 week period. It was funny updating the grandparents. They'd be boasting to someone, "He has 4 teeth!" We'd correct, "No make that 6!" "Wow!" (Insert beaming grandpa.) A week later: "He has 6 teeth!" "No, make that 8!" "What??"

Our town has fireworks for community day the last Saturday in June and LO got to enjoy them. If we go to any for the 4th LO will come along. Whether or not he's awake is another story

Are we still doing the daily threads such as monday bitchfest, tmi tuesday, wtf wednesday, and others? I really liked those threads. They made me feel as though I wasn't the only one going through things while giving me a place to vent and provide support as needed. I haven't seen them posted in the last few weeks.

Not sure where else to put this. Last night we had a rough time because of the heat. I had been nursing LO for an hour or so. She finally fell asleep. When I was walking her to her crib her entire body started shaking. It was really scary! In the past her head would slightly and rapidly go from side to side when she was sleeping if she unlatched or lost her binki. Last night was the first time her entire body shook. I already plan on calling the dr/consulting nurses tonight after work. She seems ok today.
My LO does that occasionally. Freaks me out too. The ped told me it's just his little nervous system still working out the kinks. But every baby is different so it's best to consult with your MD.

So I talked to a consulting nurse. They think it was also just her nervous system working things out. Our air conditioner gets delivered today so hopefully there will be some relief and LO will go back to sleeping through the night.

Glad you got some answers! And hoping the ac helps!
bored and waiting for a pw to the subforum so have decided to submit a fun pumping story for your various amusements.
It was my second day back to work (mind you this was late March) and I am a float nurse at the local hospital. I was floated to a unit I barely ever go to- I've been there a total of maybe 2.5 shifts since I started working.
On my lunch break, I planned to pump and eat - so I asked where I could pump. The charge nurse told me they "really don't have anywhere for that" so I would have to pump in the break room. I'm not terribly modest so I didn't really give a shit (outside the fact that it's basically wrong).
So this break room has an L-shaped bend in it where there's lockers as well as a coat tree with a chair under it (with purses/bags strewn around), so I basically bury myself under the coat tree as there's an outlet close by for the pump. I'm lucky enough that I have the lounge to myself (this area serves as break room to 3 surrounding units) up until I'm unhooking around time for 12-hour shift change.
it is at this point that someone busts in & startles me as I'm pouring milk from the pump things into one of those flimsy lansinoh storage bags, and the bag slips out of my hand and promptly upends itself into somebody's wide open purse below the chair. I could not have orchestrated this better if I had tried; it was like if you've ever gone to check your cell phone and from halfway across the bathroom managed to accidentally fling it from your pocket and chuck it into the open toilet after it ricochets off like the planter and the side of the trash can etc.
So the person who came in was putting her lunch away in the fridge and had her back to me, so she didn't see this happen...and I had this brief thought in my mind that I could quickly grab a bunch of paper towels and...what? Go rooting through some random's purse with them, while explaining that I dumped a bunch of breast milk in there? In her friend's (or someone's) purse?
Not happening.
So if you ever find the contents of your purse soaked with what appears suspiciously to be something similar to human breast milk...well I guess the moral of the story is you had best start supporting lactation rooms in the workplace. Or just zip your damn purse and stick it in your locker, you weirdo.
