Hi there,
Been away for a while now from this forum to simply sort myself and get the answers we needed. And I did both!
A quick intro about myself: Three miscarriages in a year (3rd was a chemical), the last one in this March. I finally consulted a fertility specialist. Many tests later I am told that I have a balanced translocation (BT), which essentially means that two of my chromosomes are mis-arranged; hubby's all reports are normal.
As tough it is to accept the situation, we now know that our recurring losses are happening because the right chromosome combination hasn't happened in all previous pregnancies. Don't know how soon we start trying again, but knowing the reason has helped me to face what lies ahead - that we could be in for more heartbreaks before we see our bundle of joy. There are other options in terms of IVF and PGD, but we might try naturally till the doc says not to.
I wanted to share with you my journey because it is such a tough one, and my heart goes out to everyone struggling with repeated losses.
I would love to hear from anyone who has/is dealing with balanced translocation. I joined a forum on yahoo that has people dealing with the same thing. Is there a place here too to discuss BT?
A big thank you to you wonderfully supportive ladies who listened to my story in March. I cannot correctly express what it meant to have an outlet to share those emotions, which not many in the real world can comprehend. <Hugs>
