I just want to say that I've been creeping on this thread since it started. I don't like coffee one bit, but I am a diet coke addict. Like, hardcore. I've been hoping someone would mention a way to trick myself out of cravings all day and night. Nothing has worked so far. Though I did buy canned sparkling water yesterday (sounds appealing, right?) and it was actually really satisfying. Hopefully that will at least partial satisfy my craving.
We always have Polar flavored seltzer in the house. I drink one with lunch every day. It's a nice way to still drink water but mix it up a bit and I know a few family members that have successfully cut back on how much soda they drink by switching some sodas out to flavored seltzer.
MH bought me a sodastream for Christmas. IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. Usually I just use it for sparkling water and add lemon or lime juice to it, but with the beginnings of MS, it's been great for settling my stomach and makes mocktails easy, since you can make your own ginger ale or soda by adding however much flavor you want.

I used to be a huge diet coke addict too. I quit cold turkey one day, but before that I had cut back to the mini cans. Try having one mini can a day and see if that helps.

I'm a Diet Dr Pepper Addict (hi Texas) and haven't had any since I found out. It's not actually the caffeine in it that freaks me out so much as the artificial sweeteners and chemicals. I don't know why, it never used to bother me, but now that I'm pregnant, I'm suddenly afraid of them.

This is me.
I am a diet soda/coffee addict, especially working weird unpredictable hours. But now that I'm pregnant, I'm so weirded out by all the chemicals.
Last pregnancy, I stuck with a tall coffee with lots of cream. It was when the Veranda blend at Starbucks first came out, and that's my shit. This time, I'm actually more concerned about the crap I put IN my coffee than the actual coffee, because holy calories, and I'm really making an effort to not gain 40 pounds again. I'm hoping to find some nice flavored teas to curb my craving and complete my transition to becoming the 90-year-old British countess I know I am inside.

This ^. This is why I felt the need to cut out my habit. I drank caffeine in moderation with my last pregnancy, but never diet. Now I feel guilty every time I drink it because of the nasty chemicals and sweeteners. The canned sparkling water has been very helpful so far! I actually really like it so I may just stick to that!

I'm not a soda drinker but I will sometimes mix seltzer and juice or lemonade, so if you want something with a little extra flavor that could work too.
I stick with 1-2 cups per day and maybe a Pepsi thrown in, but this isn't much different than my regular habits. Other than that I try to focus on my water intake.
I did quit Diet Pepsi about 2 years ago. I actually cut out all carbonated beverages for a long time and it helped reduce bloating in my stomach that my DH noticed.

So I guess you'd recommend one? MH gave up drinking and insists we get one since he goes through a TON of soda now. I'm on the fence about it for two reasons:
1. How much use will we actually get out of it? 2. Seems like just another appliance to take up room on my already cluttered kitchen counter.

It's basically a lightweight plastic frame with a CO2 canister that doesn't plug into anything. I would just keep it in a cabinet and pull it out 1-2 times a week when you need to. The soda bottle itself is always in the fridge. It takes less than 10 seconds to make the soda water and it's a godsend with MS. It's also pretty cheap, especially if you don't use the syrup flavors. I mostly make sparkling water and add lemon, lime, pomegranate, or orange juice to it. Each CO2 canister is about $30 and makes about 70 bottles of soda water. You can also get a discount if you return it to a store for recycling (we haven't used our first cartridge all the way yet, so I'm not sure exactly how this works).

MS took care of my coffee habit and quick, when I was KU with DS. This time around, I'll see how things go. Decaf is a good option. I also drank a ton of caffeine free tea.
I'm dreading the school year. 1st tri exhaustion + toddler + 5 am alarm - coffee = waaaahhh!
