Thanks guys! I just did it. I had a banana and cold water and got to ten kicks in 7 mins. I think she has probably always been moving in there, I just haven't been paying attention!

wildermom small world. I am in one of the break off groups from our original facebook group and I know who you are talking about. I was just added so I don't really know her. This group is for original Marchies having more children. sad indeed. She's in my thoughts for sure.
i blew a fuse at steak n shake called corp and then cried. all cause their drive thru was closed, ac was out and they screwed up my shake not once but twice and it was still wrong when i left. plus shakes were liquid, not shakes.

This recovery is more painful than I remember. The difference is probably that I am limited on the pain meds I can take. I can't take ibrofren or anything with NSAIDS due to a history of ulcers. So all I can take is Percocet. I am pretty sore. I am probably here one more night. Then I'll do what they call "house guest". They give me a place to sleep and stay so I can stay with Ethan. I can come and go as I please. I plan to be here all day and spend evenings with DS 1. I feel like the more I'm here then sooner Ethan will come home. I feel like staying here will help too because I can't drive and I'll be able to rest between visits with E.
Ethan is doing ok. He's jaundice so he's rocking some sunglasses and hanging out at what i call the beach. He's great with latching but often comes off or doesn't nurse long. I'm going to scale back on my attempts and let him rest. Then maybe pick up in a few days. (We've been trying almost every 3 hours) They also gave me a nipple shield which helped so I'll try that as well.
So I tried to help w packing and MH keeps saying not to do anything. I pointed out to him that it is absurd to think he can get it all done by himself. So I tried to help anyways and he just acted like I am making it harder on him and in the way. I feel stupid just sitting here while he is packing away on his bday.
don't feel bad. after our stay in L&D Thursday and Friday DH wants me on the couch and doing nothing else. Let him fuss if it makes him feel better!
Yea no one is letting me do anything either. I've been delegated to making sure the couch doesn't defy gravity and drinking water. It's driving me crazy. I'm used to doing stuff.
The trail clean-up went well. I rode my bike to it & then to work. Despite it being hot & humid (and itchy), I felt pretty good. But now I'm at work and I just want to take a nap. Too bad it's pretty chaotic today, so I can't. Boo.

It is frustrating isn't it? Although I hate to say it, but in your case I can totally understand why your people are being like that. I would hate to see a loved one going through the endless contractions like you have been! Although maybe getting up doing something will be a distraction?

nbalkin good luck!! Hoping for a nice easy delivery.
runningmommy519 sorry you're experiencing a painful recovery. When you say house guest, will you have a place to stay at the hospital? I've never heard of that before. Also, your son is absolutely adorable

Yes that's exactly it. I get a place to sleep only. No nurses or food. I have to do everything myself. I hadn't heard of it either but how awesome. If they need my room then I'll need to leave otherwise I can stay

Ok so the pedi on duty today just came in and said that Ethan has a dip on his skin just above his but and that this can be a sign of a spinal cord deformation. He said its rare but they want to run some tests to make sure. If it is, then it's correctable with surgery. This pedi is the same one that ran a bunch of tests on DS1 when we took him in with a prolonged cold and it just ended up being a prolonged cold. So we are hoping that this test is unnecessary because this pedi has a history of doing that. We should have the results today or tomorrow. Good thing we met our deductible
Also- I'm friggen starving and we have no food in the house. It doesn't help that I'm dragging my feet about going to the grocery store. Why can't I just wave my magic wand and say "Accio Food!" and then it all appears like in Harry Potter?!
Too bad food is the first of the five exceptions to gamp's law of elemental transfiguration.

i just want to do something. Anything. The contractions aren't as bad if I stand through them but it's like the worst back pain/period cramp in the world when I'm sitting or laying down. Plus the baby has floated back up a little bit and he's getting really good at shoving his foot up as far as he can right before a contraction. My stomach looks so weird, like really lopsided then.
runningmommy519 that picture is adorable! Thoughts and prayers for the testing. How long for results?
I woke up this morning after sleeping better than I have in months. I could have slept in, but had to get up for labor class. Got everything (including DH) together and drove 20 minutes to the hospital. When I got there I found out its tomorrow. Son of a bitch, I ruined my opportunity to sleep in!
Now I have a migraine and am trying to take a nap. The visual disturbances and severe headache are annoying when being watched for high BP.

Good luck nbalkin! You should start a thread so I can stalk you easier!!
Personally I like seeing L&D threads and think everyone (or their labor buddy) should start a thread when they are admitted for delivery/induction/section.
Well I am officially admitted and will be getting some pitocin soon to start contractions. My bp is still high and I was almost at the cutoff for the 24 hr urine so they decided it is baby day ! Now I wait for my mom to get to my house to watch dd and dh to get to the hospital and we can work on getting dd2 into the world !
Spent the morning going through 9 bins in the back of our master walk-in. We finally have a storage unit so I wanted to move them in there but figured we should go through them first. We ended up getting rid of 3 bins worth of stuff and 2 more bags of clothes. So in the past few weeks we've donated 8 bags of clothes. Woah. We found some awesome old photos of me and my 2 best middle school friends having a sleepover, some children's books we put in the nursery and letters and cards from our grandparents who have since passed away. We also found a box with THANK YOU NOTES FROM OUR WEDDING!!! ALL OF THEM! WRITTEN, SEALED, ADDRESSED! WHAT??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! WE GOT MARRIED 3 YEARS AGO AND NEVER SENT THEM!!! WHAT THE HELL?! WE'RE HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!!! ....I can't believe it. What do we do with them now???
runningmommy519 I heard at our hospital the NICU has what they call "sleep rooms" nearby. Basically ensuring us that even if we don't get a room at Ronald McDonald House or similar right away, we won't be cast out in the cold or forced to buck up cash for a hotel after my own discharge. The lady showed us one. Looked like a room just big enough for a full bed and it had an attached small bath. Not much at all but there were four of them, along with a small community kitchen and laundry area. Seemed like a dream to me! Who cares about amenities when you're just there to sleep and hang out with your baby! So glad you'll get to utilize something like this for a bit!

Does he have a "fury patch" there? Makes me think Spina Bifida Occulta. It's the least mildest form of SB. Hope not.

runningmommy519 and @wildermom our nicu has pull out couches in the patient rooms, plus a recliner. So worst case scenario you could sleep in there. We did that for two nights and it wasn't too bad. The hospital also has a Ronald McDonald room, with snacks, fridge, computers, Internet, showers, laundry facilities, tv, game room for kids, etc. Not sure if that's common, but you could ask. Ours is on the pediatric floor.
I'm constantly blown away by how generous people are in terms of nicu parents. Everything in the Ronald room is provided by donation. Staffed by volunteers for 8 hour shifts. People bring in purchased single serving snacks. Sometimes there are little trinket things (one was a little pun that says proud parent of a Preemie), people dropped off blankets in Amelia's room on an almost daily basis. These are very nice, homemade blankets. Knitted or crocheted little hats. Little outfits. It's unbelievable. I'm trying to think of something I could start making to drop off for newcomers. I don't know how to knit or crochet. I would cook things, but who is really going to eat something made by a complete stranger? Any ideas?
