I know we talked about this a while back, but I need to know who is in the same boat. Whose M14 baby isn't walking independently yet? E cruises the furniture, hell she practically runs along it but she won't let go. She won't even try walking with me with only one hand, if I try letting go with one she plops down and has a fit.
E was a butt scooter (just officially crawled a month or two ago), so i know they're said to be later walkers, but still I'm so impatient. Doc isnt worried unless she's not walking by 18 months. She'll be 16 months tomorrow.
I try not to compare and I know she'll do it when she is ready, but my friends kid is 3 months younger and my cousins kid is 6 months younger and they both took their first steps this weekend.
LO didn't walk independently until 15.5 months. She was very timid/hesitant about walking on her own. At the 15 month checkup our pediatrician said that as long as she could walk with support (walker, holding hands), then don't worry. I really wouldn't worry about it! It sounds like your LO is also being timid about it. Eventually she will realize walking is faster and get over her fear/hesitation.
My friend's baby who is the same class as J followed the same trajectory as your LO. She was a butt scooter and didn't start walking independently until 16 months. Nothing to worry about yet.
Miles was walking but our friend Lyla who is a January 14 baby didn't walk until days shy of 18mo. She has tiny feet and needed some ankle support and good shoes. Now she's walking great.

Another not until 15.5 month walker her as well. Her pedi kept telling me if she's still not at 18 months then we would begin to look into it. I know how you feel though, my friends son who is 10 weeks older was walking by 9 months and so was another little boy in our moms group. She also didn't fully start crawling until 11 months. It just happened one day though all of a sudden it seems.

Jillian won't walk unless you hold her hand. It's generally a death grip on one finger, she's 16 months old. She also holds on to the wall and will walk that way. She has stood by herself not holding on to anything and once she realizes this, she usually sits down like "oh crap".

M literally just started the week of 4th of july. He was 16 months. He's still wobbling and will hold my hand. But he's doing it more. He's 17 months this week. Our pedi wasn't concerned either. We started walking with him a lot more at 15 months. Places where I would carry, I would put him down and hold his hand to walk. I have bink it helped.

LO will be 16 months next week and she isn't walking, either.
She wasn't crawling or scooting by her first birthday, so the pediatrician sent her for an early intervention assessment. It was determined she has low muscle tone and that's why she's been delayed with gross motor skills. She has a physical therapist come to the house for an hour every other week and it has made an amazing difference.
She is a very fast crawler and cruises furniture well. She's very hesitant trying new gross motor skills, but once she feels comfortable she does great.
I'm really excited for her to walk independently, but trying to be patient. I'm mostly just happy she's making so much progress and getting stronger. I was a nervous wreck for a while.

Also, at one appointment when I was feeling bad/worried about her gross motor skills, the pediatrician pointed out that if LO had been running around this whole time, she probably wouldn't be as advanced in her fine motor and social skills. She said, "It's just part of what makes her her, and she's pretty awesome."
LO just started walking a week and a half ago. She turned 17mo this past Tuesday. She's practically running around already! Once they go, they go fast. It'll happen.
