Looks like my family and friends are tacky. Add this to us having a dollar dance at our wedding. We don't ask to bring it as an added gift however. Some give a really nicely arranged big stack of diapers. That's fine by us.
I'm confused as to how it's not asking for a second gift? People assume they are bringing a gift, so asking them to bring diapers is asking for another gift.
My thought was to say something like if you would to bring diapers only purchase these brands. Therefore not asking for them as an additional Additionally no one has CD'd in our families since disposables were readily available and they're not aware of the non-conventional disposables either. We started having the cloth diaper conversations with some of our close family and friends (even those who recently had babies themselves) and the look of shock and sometimes horror is laughable.
To be honest I didn't know you could register for diapers nor did I know about diaper banks existing for unused disposable diapers.

Usually mentioning anything about gifts other than a registry on a shower invite is considered rude. But generally for a diaper raffle people put something gross about "oh and bring a pack of diapers to enter a draw" which reads as "your lovely gift of "insert whatever here" is nice but I'd also like you to bring diapers as well. Guests feel like even though they picked out a lovely thoughtful gift they also have to bring diapers.
