Is anyone still using the bottle? We are onto sippy cups all throughout the day and have been for awhile but I'm still giving a bottle before bed. Our pedi told us that by 18 months we should have her off completely and as of this Friday, I'll have a month to get there.
She is taking less before bed so should I push more milk during the day and just cold turkey it at night? I feel so behind on this and am really kicking myself for it. She just falls asleep so easily I don't want to ruin a good thing.
LO has a bottle at wake up and bedtime. Straw cup at nap time. The wake up bottle is more like 5:30 am and then she goes back to sleep till 7 or 730. Like you, I'm worried that replacing the bottle with a cup will hinder her falling asleep. I really don't want to wake up at 530 and I know how much LO loves her bottle. Our pediatrician said to start weaning from the bottle at 15 months but didn't say when to be completely done. I know some babies are more attached to bottles than others (just like pacifiers).
We never even tried a sippy until about a month ago and I threw all bottles away one morning and switched cold turkey. That's my plan with the pacifier too in about 2 months. She may adjust better then you think!
I switched from bottles a long time ago, but we did just phase out the bedtime straw cup of milk. It took a couple of weeks of trying to put him down without it. Sometimes he fells asleep ok and other nights he would stand up at the corner of crib and whine until we gave him some milk and then he would go down. And then we switched it to water and now he mostly goes down without anything. It's dinner, straw cup of milk, bath time (on bath nights), brushing teeth, stories/rocking, then bed. After teeth brushing we still let him drink water, but not milk. He asks for milk almost right away when he wakes up in the morning.
we slowly transitioned to sippy cups but I think she would have been fine doing it cold turkey. We went from bottle to soft spout sippy, to hard spout then the cup (each has a link attached to the names)
She also loves the straw cups so may pick up some of those as well
We dropped bottles around 14 months. When I weaned our morning/bedtime nursing sessions, I felt it was easier to replace those with bottles for a few weeks, but now E has no problem with sippys instead.
Ugh yes only at nighttime prior to bed. This is our next issue and tackling begins soon. Definitely by 18months. I blame it on me babying my baby dangit! But seriously Levi is sometimes a rascal to get down at night and I'm not looking forward to this.

The plan now is to only give LO a bottle at nap and bedtime, but she also gets one most mornings. Weaning bottles is harder on me. If she gets me up at 8 I feed her a real breakfast, but if she wakes up before I give her a bottle and go back to bed for a bit.
Otherwise she gets a sippy with a meal which she does fine with. She LOVES her bottles, but if I just stopped giving them, I think she would be fine. She never asks for one unless she sees it, then she goes bat shit crazy for it.
I really hope to get her down to just nap and bedtime and then eventually wean her off those. But like many others, I am scared it will be hard for her to go to sleep, because right now she goes down so easily with a bottle
T was only using a bottle at night before bedtime. So we started using a sippy cup and she refused it the first night, then started to eventually come around.
I knew she wasn't starving from not having milk, so I basically gave her the drink it or nothing option. She started drinking it. But now she asks for water, she doesn't even want milk at home.
But none of that is helpful,...I basically threw all of them away and kept one well hidden for about a week in case of emergencies. Once that week passed and she didn't have any meltdowns, I threw that bottle away too.

We switched from bottles to sippy cups practically overnight. She was used to using the sippys though because the little boy at her babysitter's is 7 months older than her, and she was constantly stealing his. No advice really, other than just not giving her another option.
I nurse at the beginning and end of day and she gets a bottle middle of the day. I could care less if she's on a bottle forever. She won't drink milk from anything else. She drinks water from anywhere.

This is where I'm at. If it works, I'd rather not take that away. She's not actually falling asleep on the bottle and pushing it away when she's done so maybe she will just drop it herself, eventually.

Still on 1 bedtime bottle...at first my dr let me get all anxious about it. He said he wanted us to cut the 4 a day down to 2 by 18 mo....he also said i would prob have a hard time with it. Well that day I got scared for reasons he said such as poor language development and teeth problems, etc....blah blah blah. I'm ok w the bed bottle for as long as she needs it...but not till she's like 12 of course? haha she is slowly taking milk in a sippy now which took FOREVER It is what it is...not my biggest issue at the moment.
