DS: Born 8/2/12 at 31 Weeks due to unexplained PTL -------------- ISO a new baby to wear since 10/13 - DX: MFI IVF w/ ICSI - July '15: 13R, 13F, 1T - 6 Frosties - BFP - It split, It's Twins!
What weight/age do ring slings go up to? They look like they are only good for teeny tinies.
I wore my 3-year-old in one just last week.....
They last forever.
Ok I googled "ring sling toddlers" and I can understand how it's done with older kids. It just doesn't look that secure though. Like I'd be terrified they'd topple out the top if they leaned.
doublehammock what kind of ring sling do you recommend? I have an ergo that I love and will use when the wee one is bigger. I used the moby briefly with DS but it is such a hassle for stuff like errands when you are in and out of the car multiple times.

Nope. Not at all. I mean my shoulder hurts after like 10 min, but it's do able.

I have a Sakura Bloom Linen RS to start with since it will be soooo hot.
I love wrap conversation ones though for long term. So many options and colors and patters. Something for everyone.

Stroller (we have an UppaBaby Cruz -- the best stroller, and I've tried a lot) Crib Rock n Play Ergo Beco Clothes (boy or girl, a onesie is a onesie) Blankets Boppy Bumbo etc. etc. We saved a lot of stuff.
New:
Right now, the only two things definitely on my list are a Sakura silk sling (I don't like Ergo / Beco for newborn phase), and some of the new Aden and Anais clothes.
I also have knit like a fiend for both pregnancies, so will definitely be making some nice new blankets / hats etc.
I plan to reuse everything possible! We got our big ticket items in neutral colors so that way they could be used again if our second is a girl.
The only items I plan on buying for this baby are: - Stroller attachment to make our Britax B-Ready a double stroller. (Specifically got this stroller so we wouldn't have to spend the money on a double stroller in the future.) - New nipples for the bottles - A new pump to leave at work if insurance will cover it
*lurking from M16*
ciaobaby, I was looking at the britax B ready for that reason exactly. I'm guessing you liked it if you are using it still? Did you use a car seat attachment at first? Can I ask around what age you moved LO from car seat to just the regular stroller? Did you find the system easy to use, collapse, and everything? Sorry for all the questions! A bit overwhelmed here.

awkwardturtle, I really like our Britax B-Ready Stroller! Maneuvers easily and has a very large storage basket which I love! I didn't realize it at the time, but the stroller seat sits up higher than most which has been convenient (can roll DS right up to the table if we are out to eat on a patio and he is table height, when we are at the zoo we can roll him right up to viewing area of the exhibits and he can easily look right in, etc.) My friend actually pointed that feature out to me, as she has a City Select stroller which is nice but the seat sat much lower. We used a Britax Chaperone infant carrier (discontinued last fall and replaced by the B-Safe) that clicked right into the stroller without any attachments. We started using the actual stroller seat instead of the infant carrier at 6 months. It is a little bit larger than some other strollers when it is folded up with the stroller seat, but I would totally recommend it if you have the trunk space!
Chiming in as another B-ready/B-safe user, we love and plan to re-use them both with 2.0.
The seat locked into the stroller so easily when C was little, and we started using it as a standalone as soon as he was too heavy for the infant seat. We just brought it on a recent vacation (we gate checked it) because it's roomy for him and the storage is ideal when on the go. We have plans to use it this weekend at an outdoor evening play, assuming he needs a place to sleep. He's 21 months now, so we've certainly got our money's worth.
Oh and I totally forgot about this: ice cube trays and reusable pouches!
I made my own baby food, because its stupid cheap and doesn't leave a lot of waste/trash. Its also faster than people think. I just pureed or chunky-pureed food, put them into ice cube trays (each cube = 1oz = 1 serving) and froze them. When they're frozen, I emptied them into freezer bags to store. In the morning I'd pull out the portions I wanted for the day, and they thawed on the counter.
Easy peasy and super, super cheap--plus healthy.
The reusable pouches (Yummi Pouch are the ones we have)are AMAZEBALLZ and we still use them today. You puree your fruit/veg, pour into the pouches, seal and freeze. Take them out in the morning to thaw, put them in the dishwasher when dirty, repeat. CHEAP, no waste, and very healthy. DD eats 1 pouch per day, 8oz of fruit/veg!
Its $3/pouch and we've used our for probably 2 yrs. Store pouches are $1-$2 each, and you just toss it after.
I rejoined my local baby wearing group and they are all about the Tula right now. But definitely getting a ring sling. /bow to the master

Lurking from m16--I have a wrap conversion ring sling (girasol) and it's awesome. I didn't get it until LO was around a year old. She's 16 mo/26# and it works great for quick ups. It's a little more snuggly than the ergo. But definitely not the most comfortable for long times up. I just saw a you tube tutorial for a ring sling back carry though that looks promising.
Reusing: - Crib - Rock N Play - Bouncer seat - Toys - Bathtub - Pack N Play - Chicco KeyFit 30 - Snap n Go stroller
Getting new (and/or used): - Swing that plugs into the wall rather than being battery operated - Tula carrier - Graco 4Ever (eventually) - Symphony pump -- or renting from the hospital
Getting tossed out the window! - Ergo carrier (so effing hot) - Insurance pump
At the end of May, I sold a lot of my baby stuff (kick-n-play mat, rock-n-play, infant carseat, cradle), so I'll need to repurchase some items. The kick-n-play I will try to buy used, same with the rock-n-play. Although I am HOPING that my SIL kept her baby stuff so I can just borrow from her. But I think there is a good chance she might have sold her items as well.
On my list to buy: Kick N Play Rock N Play Car seat
I also will need to buy a twin size mattress for Z to move to so that 4.0 can have the crib.
We were Team Green with our first so, thankfully, the vast majority of our newborn essentials are neutral. So... Reusing: Receiving blankets Washcloths, towels, burp cloths Some newborn sleepers Clothes (if a boy) Tub Swing (converts to a bouncy seat as well) PNP Infant car seat and bases Toys/teethers Cradle (We have a cradle that's been passed around the family since my Aunt was a baby. Every time a new baby sleeps in it their name gets written on the bottom, kinda cool) Exersaucer, walker High chair
Buy: Nursery bedding/decor (We decided after our last that we would wait until after the baby was born to decide how to decorate) Bottles/nipples Double stroller Probably going to look into a better bouncy seat-the swing converts to one but it rocks kind of jerky like Breast pump (well, rent from hospital like last time)
Undecided: Crib (DS converts to toddler bed and then double bed. May keep him in that and buy the same for this one) Glider rocker (still very much a part of DS morning/bedtime/nap time routine)
