Does anyone out there use a Dropcam (or the newest version, Nest cam?) as a baby monitor? We're trying to decide which monitor to buy for our soon-to-arrive twins and I'm having a tough time making this call.
At first I wasn't considering the it because I like the idea of a dedicated receiver (ie don't want to have to use my iPhone - we don't have an iPad). But Dropcam gets such amazing reviews all across the board that I'd like to look into it and give it a fair shot.
Here are my concerns: - If I want to just stream the audio throughout the night (ie to be able to hear if one of them wakes up crying), can I do that without having the screen on my phone turned on? We had a Summer Infant for our daughter and it did this (before it crapped out), I'd like to have this capability. - My phone is passcode-protected; if I want to see the video in the middle of the night, I have to unlock my phone, right? Even with TouchID this seems like a PITA. - If I'm using my phone for any other purpose, the monitor's not on/running in the background, right? So if I'm out of ear shot there would be no way to hear/see them?
