I'm on the south shore of LI. I believe we are supposed to get 20-30 inches. I am at work right now (work in midtown NYC) and it's already coming down pretty steadily so I am going to leve here by 1 (regardless if the dismissal is sanctioned).
I'm single and live alone, so my SO is staying over to help with the shoveling. I also got DD a toy shovel so she can "help".
Luckily, it was just DD's birthday so she has a bunch of new toys we haven't opened yet (I ration them out to her) so hopefully that will keep her busy!
Only a few inches here. And two of my employees called off because of it, bitches! I swear my staff gets nervous about driving in weather that is two hours east of us.
North jersey here. I think we are supposed to get about 2 feet. Dh and dd are flying home Wednesday and I'm having major anxiety about getting to the airport to collect them in the morning. As much as I want them home the airports will be a disaster so I'm thinking about having them change their flights to come home Thursday or Friday.

I'm good with being snowed in as long as I'm not home alone with my kids. If my mom's home tomorrow, I'll just plan to day drink and play with DS1 in the snow.
They are predicting 24-36 inches here (NY). I doubt we will get that much. It's the 50-60mph wind that I'm worried about. Its supposed to start around 1. Schools are already closed.
Ditto the wind. We are in CT now (predicting 15-30), but during the last blizzard of comparable magnitude we lived in RI. The wind knocked out power and some residents were stuck in the cold for days. We really don't want that this time around.

I am on Long Island and we are in the 30+ zone. My husband teaches in NYC and they have already cancelled after school programs for today and will likely close tomorrow. Most Long Island schools have preemptively closed for tomorrow already. My office never closes, yay.

We are in the 10-14 inches zone. Not too bad. DS has the flu so we aren't going anywhere anyway. I just need to run to Target at some point today to get diapers. I'm sure there will be mass panic and I won't be able to find the right size.

I lived in Long Beach for many years and E Rock for three years. I miss it there. We have a ten year plan to move back to Long Beach. It is my favorite place.
Just saw this, so I'll hop in! We are RI and are due to get slammed with about 2+ feet. I'm pretty stoked about it, but at the same time, we live out in the boonies, and we lose power over any little thing...I'm REALLY hoping our power companies are prepared for this, bc I hate losing power. Dh is gping nuts making sure we have enough Gas for the generator abd the wood is all stacked in the woodshed, etc.
Really, I'm most concerns about having enough food, water, formula & booze in the house.
I just go a call saying that my salon will be closed tomorrow. I had completly forgotten I made that appointment so in a way I'm glad it is being rescheduled but I'm also bummed because I really need a haircut and to have my brows done
I'm in Boston, and people are sort of fuh-reaking out. We made the mistake of going the grocery store last night. We spent 45 min in the checkout line! So I let my son go to town on a box of teddy grahams. #sorrynotsorry
South of Boston here, so expecting craziness. I don't really believe it though. I've been hearing comparisons to '78 my whole life. The stores are insane. People posted pictures of completely empty milk fridges and bread shelves on my Facebook.

Everyone stay safe! I'm actually getting nervous now. I will feel better when DH gets home (I really hope he can come home today). I hadn't even thought about losing power (my mind is so frazzled!). I really hope that doesn't happen- we don't have a generator or fireplace.
I work from home so I don't get snow days lol. Even if our offices close I still have to work! So unfair. The kids will be off tomorrow I'm sure.
Oh and while I was out for work I stopped at target- chaos. And no snow boots lol.
I've actually never prepared for a storm before....but I did this time. Like everyone else is saying, the mountains of snow is 1 thing, but the length of time its going to snow is unusual (30 hours or so), plus the crazy winds sustained at 50+MPH with gusts up to 80 are what concerns me. Stocked up on milk, water and batteries last night. I'd be one of the first to go in a zombie apocolypse
This exactly. I usually don't get the whole run out and stock up thing for most storms that will be over in a day at most, but this one seems different. I am excited that my husband was supposed to do a talk at a local high school. They already emailed him to reschedule, and since he was going to be out of the office anyway, there is no way he is going in.
I wonder if there will be another driving ban like there was a few years ago. I remember that one was so bad, I literally couldn't see my neighbor's house which is like 100 feet away.
Um, DH just called. His work (world wide finance company) was looking for people to stay in hotels nearby so that they'd have coverage. Craziness. He's planning to work from home anyway, not sure why that's not good enough.

This is just crazy to me. It never ceases to amaze me when companies can't respect the work/life balance.
After snowmagedon hit us in November were actually not getting hit this time around. Hopefully you guys don't get hit too hard. But I get the stocking up. We always try to keep our cupboards stocked this time of year. Weather here is way to unpredictable.
