The regents exam has been canceled. Mayor Diblasio put a ban on non emergency vehicles driving after 11 pm. That's not gonna happen, cab drivers will still be out there.
I think it was 2010 or 2011 that there was the big storm the day after Christmas and they tried to do the same thing. Meanwhile, bars were packed and cab drivers were making a killing. I assume uber drivers will be out there too.

It's been snowing since I woke up this morning. I drove to a million store and finally found snow pants. Got my kid all dressed in snow pants, snow boots, mittens, scarf, hat, etc. He steps outside, trips face first into the snow, screams bloody murder. He lasted maybe 12 seconds.

Where are you shinyredsmartazz ? What we're getting now is the light stuff. The news said the blizzard is coming between 10pm-5am with 2-4 inches per hour.

North Jersey here, we're looking at probably 2 feet. My University cancelled classes tonight and all day tomorrow, they will probably cancel Wednesday too.
Unfortunately I do all my research from home so even though my classes are cancelled I still have a project to submit by tomorrow morning.

DH came home safely--wasn't sure if work would keep him until 6:30. Reese LOVES the snow. (last year she absolutely hated it). DH took her out in the snow--mostly because we figure tomorrow the amounts may be too overwhelming for her. Bathtime now, having tacos for dinner and then bedtime.
I just had a fight with DH. The hospital is switching to disaster mode and is looking for residents to spend the night. He offered to walk to the hospital in the morning if needed.
I told him that wouldn't be safe and would rather he spend the night if needed, and he said I was being silly, it's less than a mile.
I feel like 45moh winds plus a freaking blizzard situation mean walking would be dumb as hell.
Your DH is an idiot. I'm sorry, but that is so dangerous.
Right?
I'm pissed.
He's being all "I don't have a choice, doctors need to work."
Just saw this, so I'll hop in! We are RI and are due to get slammed with about 2+ feet. I'm pretty stoked about it, but at the same time, we live out in the boonies, and we lose power over any little thing...I'm REALLY hoping our power companies are prepared for this, bc I hate losing power. Dh is gping nuts making sure we have enough Gas for the generator abd the wood is all stacked in the woodshed, etc.
Really, I'm most concerns about having enough food, water, formula & booze in the house.
Another Rhode Islander! We moved to CT 1.5 years ago and I still miss RI. We try to go back a few times a year since it is only a 2 hour drive from where we live now.
Haha! Too funny. ..we moved to RI from CT in 2009. All of our family still lives in CT.
Supposed to get 15-30 inches here so it is definitely a significant storm. I'm just hoping we don't lose power. I'm also annoyed because I have to take a PTO day since I have the capability to work from home but won't be able to do much work with a walking 13m old. Whateva
We are in Albany, NY so I don't think we are getting slammed, but we are getting snow. I took tomorrow off to hang out at home with the kids. I am hoping to stop and get wine on the way home tonight.
I'm in PA and I think we are supposed to get 7-12". I'm torn because I just started a new job today, so how can I possibly call out tomorrow if we really get that much. But at the same time, I don't feel risking the drive if the roads are bad. I wish they would institute a travel ban here. It would at least make my decision for me.
Also in Jersey! (Philly area) My H left for a work trip early this morning. I am not thrilled to be alone with the toddler all week when daycare is closed for the blizzard. I hope some teenagers come by tomorrow to shovel. I stopped at the ATM specifically so I can pay someone else to do all this shoveling!
I swear I'm going to do an intro. Couldn't help but respond.
I have a two and half-year-old and a three week old. My husband had to go into work and spend the night so he could work tomorrow. I tried not to lose my shit but i did. I get that it's safer but I am terrified of being stuck in the house, or more importantly the power going out, with these two.
It was really nice to hear some parents in the same situation! Oh I live on the seacoast in new Hampshire we are expecting 2 feet.
Snow is still going strong here in RI. Send help...i think my toddler may drive me insane. I'll be shipping him outside to play in the snow when DH goes out to shovel!!
