DD is already asleep. Today was a awful nap day..21 minute nap once! When I got home with her I tried to get her to nap..nothing helped. After 45 minutes I gave up. Plus she has a low grade fever and is stuffy so you'd think she'd want to nap. She fought it like it was her job. I've decided when she's a teenager I'm going to remind her of this and fight her napping!

Titing for reminding her as a teenager. In the meantime I hope she feels better soon and you both get some rest.
I stayed a little late at work because my kid was napping. Now that I'm home I have to pay bills and work on my photos from last night. Today I am thankful for coffee and beer and the easy precooked fried chicken I bought on sale before I even knew I'd be so busy this week. DH is playing video games and blissfully ignorant to the fact that he's about to be on baby and dinner duty within the next few minutes.

I'm sure he will be so grateful he gets to do those things!

Bwahahaha! My DH takes it in stride, but cannot ever cook (or clean, or do laundry) while on baby duty.

For some odd reason he decided this would be a good time to clean out his closet of all things. But whatever, at least he's also taking care of the kid.
We give DS sippy cups throughout the day. We haven't introduced milk in the cup though. Our pedi said just water and diluted juice at this point.
Question about teeth. When are they supposed to have their first dentist appointment? DS has had his teeth since 3 months old and now he has 10. I feel like that should be coming up, no?

Our pedi checks the teeth and puts fluoride on them at well visits but I think after a year or so.

I thought it was 6 months after the first tooth, but could be wrong.
ETA my pedi does nothing with her teeth. Not even look at them.

I read "by one year." Our pedi also doesn't pay much attention to the teeth.
I went to once upon a child today and scored some great clothes for dd. This included some super cute 2 piece pajamas, which I'm super excited about because of you notches. There was a bunch of target brand stuff that was brand new for super cheep too! Score!

kellrr I am a shitty napper too. Even when I'm exhausted. I'm beginning to think we're soulmates. I love a nice beer with chips and homemade salsa. And netflix? Hells yeah. swise22 I think they're supposed to see one at a year, which I think is so ridiculous. No way in hell would I let them put fluoride on his teeth, which is what most of them want to do. We are a no fluoride family, both on water and oral care, so when we go to the pediatric dentist it's basically just the dentist looking to make sure everything is on track.

Not much going on here. It's technically my weekend off, but I'm working tomorrow afternoon. I need to get the oil in my car changed, haven't decided if I'm going to do that today or not.
Baby question. At our 9mo appt last week the pedi was saying that I should try and get LO down to 3 bottles in a day and the rest be real food. How much milk/formula/real food do you think you ladies are giving your babes? To me 3 bottles just seems a bit crazy. I'd say we are at about 36oz total of formula, with 4-5 bottles in a day. I'm still on purees and small bits of food as we have no teeth yet. He does like the baby food, but I have a hard time getting him to eat a lot of it. Guess I'll have to maybe start offering the baby food first before his bottles, maybe that'll make a difference?
So I wouldn't wait to give him adult food until he has several teeth or you could be waiting awhile. Our baby still only has 2 teeth and gums everything. If you think about it, you really chew with your back teeth anyway.
From going through this with our older son, I can tell you the doctors want you to cut formula and bottles so suddenly at 12 months. We chose to do a gradual thing for our older son and not totally listen but they really want them on milk and getting all nutrition from food quickly.
I would start offering 3 solid meals and maybe a few healthy snacks. We still are on 5 bottles but he's only eating 4 oz from some of them so I'm cutting to 4 starting tomorrow.
Our little guy is drinking about 26 oz per day plus 3 meals plus one purée.
