mcbush That would have freaked me out for sure! So she's not yet in a toddler bed? If this is the sixth time she's escaped the crib and wandered around, what are you waiting for?? (Unless I misunderstood that detail)

Its Monday. Im going to drop off J to daycare and check out two homes we are looking into buying. We were trying to wait until April or may of next year but my SUV once again was hit. This makes number 4 since 2013 when I purchased it because someone totaled my car. In hoping and praying this is the right move. We were planning to move later to save to have extra money for an emergency. But at this point i can't wait for mh truck to be hit again.

thatblondie I wish DS still watched Sid! I miss that. I'm trying to encourage Dinosaur Train again, too. I was always annoyed by these initially, but I had no idea just how BAD other cartoons are.
Good morning ladies. I haven't been around much but hoping to keep up this week. DH and DD left on vacation with the ILs yesterday and I was a crying mess after dropping them off at the airport. We didn't specifically tell DD I wasn't coming with but she kind of knew and gave me the most holding-on-for-dear-life hug when I dropped them off.
I'm trying to enjoy my toddler free time, and did a whole bunch of lying around doing nothing yesterday which was awesome, but I miss them a lot. I slept with DD's blanket last night. DH had a rough time with her on the plane, he really doesn't know how to keep her entertained unfortunately. I'm hoping the rest of the trip goes smoothly, but considering that he didn't even think about needing to pack a lunch for her tomorrow while they wait to get on the cruise I'm guessing he is in for a rough day.
Today my husband starts his last grad class. It's every Monday from 5:45-8:30, so Miss A and I will be on our own on Mondays. After December he will be done!

Holy cow. We watched our nephews watching power rangers recently and I had thoughts of sticking sharp objects in my eyes and ears.
I knew DS would get into super heroes, but thankfully no Power Rangers here. We watch a lot of Spider Man and Avengers and there's a new series on Netflix 'DinoTrux' (based on the book) that's not too terrible. DD is getting more assertive about her favorite show Doc McStuffins so now they have to take turns in the morning.

mcbush I can't even imagine. We have shit sleep here but she's still in a sleep sack at least and hasn't shown signs of escape (KNOCK ON WOOD). I don't know what I'll do. Good luck on the containment. We turned the lock in DS' room around so we can lock it from the outside.
Morning ladies. DH is stuck at work at a tractor trailer accident so I had breakfast duty today. Figures it's the first day in awhile Gia wouldn't go back to sleep until 9 in bed with me. I feel accomplished. I fed the dog and gave him his shot. I've never had to do that!(The shot I mean. I don't starve the dog! ) Gia's been fed and changed. My head is pounding...yay.

She's just a kid that constantly pushes the envelope. It's all day every day. So no matter what she finds a way around whatever safety thing I set up. So ideally I would like to keep her contained and not in a toddler bed because she will just balk at not being contained. She will just get up and come out, even if she went to sleep fine at the beginning of the night, she'd wake up in the motn and know she could get out and go find trouble. So id rather have her believe she can't get out instead. I'm not sure that makes sense. I really haven't had much sleep.
So I follow your logic, except clearly she has figured out that she can get out and go find trouble, multiple times . We all need to ditch the crib at some point, and I wouldn't expect her personality to change to make so much easier to to transition down the road. Honestly it might be easier to bite the bullet now if you can keep her in her room with a baby gate and let her roam her room when she gets up in MOTN.
I am pretending that only PBS has kids shows as long as I can.
We don't have cable at our house. PBS is the only over-the-air option for kids shows. But G constantly asks for Sid, Super Why and Caillou on Netflix. He is well aware that we can watch his favorites whenever he wants.
Hello ladies, I am back from vacation. I hope I didn't miss too much while I was gone. Hugs too all that need them and I am full of nut punches where they are warranted.
We had an alright time on vacation. The mountains are a beautiful place and E had a great time but I was tired and frustrated with the ILs by the end of it. E's sleep schedule was all out of whack and she wasn't the good behaving (most of the time) toddler that I know. So it was hard. It's good to be home!

Tried that. She scaled the baby gate. That's part of the issue. And my 1940s knobs don't have locks either so I can't physically lock them. And I get what you're saying, too. I am on board with a big girl bed but I am baby proofing the upstairs as we speak, but we have an office that isn't safe and that's what I'm trying to keep her out of. Thankfully the door sticks but when the humidity changes it pops open on its own sometimes. We just closed all the doors upstairs and the gate and left our room open. So her options were ransack her room or come to ours. She finally gave in and went to sleep about 4:30.
Can you close her door and install some type of lock on the outside? Chain? Hook? Latch bolt thingy?
Yesterday J decided to try to fight his nap after he asked to go nap. Iwas watching on the monitor and in one swift motion he threw his leg over the top! He stopped as soon as i said to put his leg down but im afraid the time to transition is almost here for us too.
I explained to him that he shouldnt try to climb out bc he may fall, hit the floor and get hurt. He seemed to be taking in the info. We shall see.

I wondered if she's scaling the crib, she's could also get over the gate. Sounds like adding a simple bolt or hook & eye lock up high would be the easiest way to lock any doors you don't want her getting into or out of. Probably a worthwhile investment for the office with 2 LOs.
Don't the kids know we're on vacation? 7:30 is not an ok wake up time...
Our play date with nachellebeck and K didn't happen Grayson needed a nap at the time we were supposed to leave to go to the play place. I didn't want to take a chance on him taking a car nap so we stayed here. He ended up sleeping for over 3 hours!
And my niece is driving me up the wall...she doesn't listen at all.
